Back on topic with a Cold War uchrony: Larry Bond's "Red Phoenix".

1986: North Korea takes advantage of a US pull-out from South Korea to inva... "liberate" the South and reunify them under the Great Leader's rule.
It's close to Clancy's style, but a bit better ...

"Ivans War" Catherine Merridale, highly recomended !! besides "war" literature iam so hooked on Haruki Murakami.. :oops:

can you elaborate on that ? I found it to be very well written and not biased at all. OFC it might be tough for westener to grasp what was going on back then but Mrs. Merridale has a solid enough background imo.
