OK, thanks! Was expecting that, but needed a confirmation as re-downloading it all would have taken days here. Hopefully we already have campaign files downloaded so the patch will just be some late minute fixes :)

The different characters you play in a rpg each grow in their own way. But options weren't locked because of play times.
You could start a rogue character without having to play as warrior for x hours. You're comparing the options of the player to the option of a character.
It's the wrong way around. You should compare one match to one character adventure.

If the satisfaction you get from a tacked on xp system is anywhere near the level of satisfaction you get from playing the game, you should question your purchase.
A game has to be fun on its own merit.

Yes, options are locked in a RPG and are directly linked to time in game (XP earned). What skills/traits you pick for the character at a level-up will influence the future which is exactly the same as in WEE. The difference is that in WEE, a game lasts X minutes and then restarts where as in a RPG, it's ongoing. Those decisions of what to unlock/upgrade however and persistent and ever-influencing game-to-game and minute to minute...which makes what you've unlocked in WEE your character.

Your point about resetting stars meant that unlocking everything made things more ergonomic misses the point that you still have to unlock the starts in the first place.

I've already stated that this wont affect affect me one way or another...it's just a preference.

Good day Commanders!

Our combat engineers would like to report back to you about the Command Star System!
Command Stars were deeply linked to European Escalation’s mechanics. Wargame: EE’s campaign offered the possibility to make your unit group stronger by unlocking new units for both the solo campaign and the multiplayer games.

In AirLand Battle, the new dynamic campaign makes unlocking units obsolete. You need to manage your battlegroups and your reinforcements carefully to take over strategic points of the map with a minimal amount of losses. You choose your units by selecting your BG reinforcement that the countries offer to send you. And if you care about your units, you'll keep them across all the campaign. It is both interesting and very fun!

Since unlocking units had no longer any reason to be for the solo campaign, keeping it only for multiplayer was being superfluous. We found out that limiting new players to very basic units was too much of a burden and a penalty, preventing them from having real fun crafting their own army deck and eventually driving them away from using the Deck system. By unlocking all units from the start, and letting everyone, new players and veteran alike, to build their own Decks without limitation brings forward the strategic aspect of the game and puts everyone on an equal level. Even if the default decks may be balanced, we know that good players will make their own decks fitting their strategies, adapted to their tactics and their teammates. While a veteran player will still be better than a new player, newcomers will stand a better chance against them by being able to come up with interesting decks – provided they don’t fill their Deck with just supply trucks!
We hope you will understand our concern and the reasons behind this change. Our goal was definitely not to remove a feature, but to bring more balance and let new players discover all the depth of the game and the possibilities it offers.

Always good to have a clear and concise explanation; something that Eugen and Focus seem to be very good at providing throughout the forum.
