I'm cleaning the "we want Wargame" posts: there's enough of them in the dedicated sub-forum without feeling requiring to derail every AoA thread with it.

Is there any possibility for you to hire some StarCraft GM's or C&C experts about balancing. They can help so much. It makes game alive again. You should not listen everyone's opinion. If you listen everyone, you will make the changes what noob players want. That will kill the community of competetive players.

According to the numbers of sales, the part of competitive players in the community is less than 1% if you consider the number of players with real stats in the ladder... And 1% is really great compared to the reality... so...

It is already interesting to see the point of view of everyone... There are no experts...

To be honest who cares about competitive play, you really believe this low number of players allows for any kind of competitive spirit?

Even grey goo, a game that just had a tournament together with a new expantion and does regular community feedback sessions, isnt even properly balanced or has any kind of meaningfull playerbase.

Stop bringing the term competitive to these type of games.

The game has to be fun and have enough variety so that people never really get bored of it and leave. Without having a core and fun gameplay loop its really pointless having any kind of "competitive" balance mentality.

And i will say this again and again, the game had some issues at launch but, after they patched it the balance between factions was not bad.

And looking at old C&C games i really would like to ask you if those games were even balanced at all..... red alert 1 and 2? balanced? hell no, tiberium sun? generals at release? even warcraft.

Competitive focus on balancing factions is pointless unless you have the propper playerbase for it. Until then their focus should be on improving the factions fun factor and the amount of cool things you can do with them.

I just remember that 80000$ tournament for GreyGoo. In their official twitch stream there are like 20-30 players. 30 players for 80k tourney, it is kinda joke.

If you want not competitive game, ok keep playing dead game. Money is the only thing which can keep the game alive. So you need to spend money, but also you need to gain more money than you spend. So you need to sell the game much much more( that amount of selling is impossible), or you will gain money from official stream's, advertisements, touenament donators etc. In all ways game needs community to do these things. People will neither pay you for a noob-friendly game nor donate the tournaments in which noobs are challenging. People only donate or watch tournaments to see good players playing the game. That is why Blizzard gained more money than they spent on tournaments etc. This is also the reason of why many good games died so fast. Consequently, you need to make the game competitive for make it E-Sport. Because of that, you need to make the game fast-paced, both micro and macro oriented etc. by taking the opinions of so called pro players.

Btw old games were pretty balanced too imho. Especially C&C in series with only 2 faction involved. RA1 and Tibeirum Sun are still quite balanced. Even if they are not competetive, there are not many alternative games to play so for the players, chosing these games are your only option. Internet was also slow back in 90s, there were no E-Sport activity.

i agree, you can worry about competitive play when you have 200,000 users online playing the game. First make the game fun, fast and fluid and the rest will fall into place

one thing not many people have mentioned is the tech upgrade mechanism

right now it is layered, clunky and complicated

to keep in line with the theme here of making the game more accessible and fun the unit upgrades should be massively overhauled and simplified

Yep, agreed not a fan of simplifying something that was already ok. With this reboot they will solve no problems but create new ones. Fistly, they are dividing the community. Even though everybody who has the "old" AoA will also get AoA:RE the game will be different and it may not be to the liking of some people (like my self, because I hate simplification where it was not needed). Secondly, they are not solving some of the core issues of the "old" game. Like balancing, lack of content (say maps?), stability, performance (remember we were promissed to play 10vs10? or something like that) and lastly modding and map editing. We didn't hear anything about those either. In my oppinion they are just opening another can of worms for us.

Now, there's going to be a Beta somewhere in the end of this spring or in the middle of Summer (that's what I heard), I'm just not sure if its going to be worth participating in it and giving honest feedback, since they (Eugene Systems) tend to lean on cheap solutions and sometimes tend to cut out the most interesting elements of the game, making it a more generic RTS than something unique and interesting.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and no one is a fan of a dead game that got very bad reviews on steam. it was ok my ass, everyone hated the 3 supplies shit, not because it's complicated. no no no, me and almost everyone else hated it because it's simply shit. take age of empires series for example. it had multiple resources but it was fun and everyone loved it. on the other hand AoA's resource system is just fucked up. if it was fun, and if it was OK like you're saying no one would have hated it so much.
and btw AoA did not die because of balance, or lack of maps or lack of modding tools. it died because it's shit, yea i'm telling you the hard truth. it was utter shit.
a lot if imbalanced games like zero hour are still alive even after more than a decade. you know why ?
not because it has 5 or so more maps than AoA, not because of modding tools, not because it's balanced. it's alive because it's unique and has a very high quality game play. which does not exist in AoA.
in zero hour you need to micro, keep an eye on your units, harrass supplies. a game that is easy to learn but takes years to master.
in AoA just sit in your base, make a big blob of units and your good to go.
people like you are the ones who are putting this game behind, you are complaining about maps and balance while this game first of all needs better combat mechanics, efficient counter system, better resources system, better units reaction. and i mean by game mechanics for example in zero hour a tank that is moving it's fire rate halves while it's moving, why is that mechanic not in AoA ?
you might be right, that new version might not be worth trying. it will be better than this version of crap but still it will be shit.

unique and interesting !!!!!!!! LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. AoA was everything but unique and interesting, if anything in it was unique and interesting it wouldn't have died so quickly.
the only game i ever regreted buying is this piece of shit, it's not about money, but i was so hyped about it before it got released, so when i bought it and saw how shit it really is and that it can't be fixed i felt like i got robbed.

Dude, I'm not trying to defend Eugen here, but that's a bit harsh considering that they spent years working on this. Also, I'm pretty sure that the forum has a policy against swearing, tone down the language please. Aim for more constructive criticism in future instead of laughter and insults. They won't help anything.
