Computer seems to have no restriction on units.

Postby Alchonis1 » Sun 24 Jun 2012 17:44

Hello, i just wanted to report this.

The computer seems to be able to have whatever army composition it wants regardless of amount availible.
I was playing a single player skirmish game and when i got to the computers main start i got attacked by 21 havocs, needless to say i got steamrolled...

I have noticed many times aswell that i never encounter 2 T-80U's, they always come in 4's for the computer and i often face 2 or even 4 groups of 4 T-80U's in singleplayer skirmishes.
It certainly wakes you up lol but most of the time its completely ridiculous.

Anyway the game is awesome and thank you for it.

The AI on this game is an horrible cheater :) : It got no deck restrictions, no unit availability (I still remember the time when the computer flanked me with 2 shilkas followed by 12 T80-U, it was... surprising) and know where your units are (=will infiltrate SF exactly where you let one command unprotected, using the only 300m wide corridor without AA) ; according to some people, the AI can also spot every hidden unit without problems. It's very opportunistic but if you don't make any mistake, you can beat it pretty easily.
I suppose that an army controlled directly by a supercomputer can requisitions the best units and use spy satellites. Damn soviet superscience.

The AI knows where all your units are but still needs LOS to destroy them.

The AI often enjoys spamming helicopters, and barely uses infantry. Oddly enough, I also noticed that the AI's T-80U was firing at my L2A4 from 2600m away, outside me L2A4's range. No, not with ATGM, but its main gun. Could be lag, but I lost two Leopard IIs to that since I couldnt shoot back.

Hard AI needs to be renamed to normal, and a new AI needs to be put in.

Is AI using battlegroups chosen by devs? I've recently seen a little force comprised of AMX30, Roland and Sagaie. So my guess is that the AI is not restricted on units but use pre-defined task forces.

The AI in this game is absurd.

No unit restrictions
No fog of war
No logistics - This one pisses me off very badly....seeing a swarm of T72's endlessly roaming the battlefield from one end to another.

It is apparent that very little effort was put forward in its development. :x

It's really a shame.

The least the devs could do would be to add an option to toggle fuel and ammo for human players. Unrealistic, yes, but it would at least make it a fair fight.

As some already mentioned but AI has...

1. Unlimited fuel
2. Full knowledge of every enemy unit on map and their ROF so they can go trough positions where no one can shoot them
3. Unlimited unit amount
4. Possibility to call reinforcements to zones where they don't have control via command vehicle
5. Shoot longer distances than unit suppose (example few hundred meters longer than what T-80 should possible do with a main gun)

AI shouldn't go after or shoot units what it can not see.
AI should use more recon units at front to search enemy
AI should have realistic reflex to order area attack instead right away
AI shouldn't move units away under artillery few milliseconds after giving an fire order to that area.
AI should have pre-configured platoons and companies with realistic sets and formations and use them. This would limit possibility to spam with those 15 Havocs or other helicopters.
AI should use much more infantry than now rarely.
AI should need to refuel and re-fill depleted ammunition (especially artillery and MRLS's after shooting)
AI should retreat more to better locations where reinforcements are.

It does ; just click on an AI vehicle and watch the fuel level staying at the maximum when the unit moves...

You mean you haven't seen T72's driving around patrolling the map? I've seen them in the SP campaign. In skirmish, I've had T72's attack me from across the map, only to retreat back across the map without having to ever refuel.

I know when I do that, as a human player, I normally can't even get my tanks to my battle positions without having to refuel them.
