Air drop , rope down for SF INF

Postby Exia » Sat 7 Apr 2012 22:20

I would like to see inf SF to be able to rope down out of choppers for faster unloading and being able to do so in cover , buildings and forests I think it would make inf more useful and change defence a lot in some good ways in the right hands this would be vary useful

It was already suggested in another older topic and I think it's a good idea. However, ropes should only be used by highly trained specialists units like VDV, partroopers, Delta forces, etc. More basic infantry like chasseurs should instead jump from low flying helicos (something like 1 meter high) because I think that it needs quite a lot of training for using ropes from a chopper without falling akwardly on the earth. ;)

Fast roping was experienced the first time during the Falklands War, by the British SAS or RMC (I can't remember).
So what do we do with pre-1982 SF? Two different animations depending on the time period?
Fast roping would only concern a handful of (NATO, if not just British) SF units and only in the last tiers of the game time period ...

What about much quicker drop offs then? :) Where the choppers dont land and stop completely before unloading but allow the infantry to unload when hovering just above ground and taking off right away again?

Didnt know ropes were first used so late though.. crazy.. :)

With the next patch, landing time for chopper and infantry unloading from choppers, will be improved.
