TeamPlay Strategy in Wargame

Postby SocialistJamie » Thu 25 Aug 2016 04:35

I want to ask for improvement tips and commentary about Teamplay strategy in Wargame.

How do you distribute the division of labor/responsibility among teammates? I often see people claim certain areas as their focus, and one player commits to leaving his CV at the original spawn. But what about division of special roles, such as, I will do the behind-enemy-lines recon, you will provide tanks, she will bring emergency air support and arty, etc?

I just think better coordinated and clear communicating teams will tend to win more.

The easiest role is the arty support. The others (tank provider, etc.) are quite difficult to handle as you will spread units of the same type all across the map and you won't benefit from AA/INF/RECON support everywhere depending of what your mates do.

Here is what we usually do with my mates : each player chooses an area to settle and a direction to attack. Then, following what happens during the game, we support each other. Sometimes, one guy buys some arty pieces and assumes the role of support for the team.

Yeah it really makes no sense in EE and not much in ALB/RD either. Even though specialization is available in the later games, it doesn't have a big role in the sense of the tight knit teamwork you'd see in World in Conflict, more it's just time to time complementary capability, eg. when you join forces on a push. Otherwise it's just you defend your sector I'll handle mine.

I do know this: as a still-green player, I certainly prefer team games 4v4 or 3v3 or even 2v2. It is still very difficult to handle the larger maps by myself, or the several maps that I haven't yet played or rarely played.
