I am rather distressed by the lack of fixed wing aircraft in screenshots and the database. Are we to have a wargame without planes ?
I did a search on the topic briefly, But results are inconclusive.
Does anyone know if we will be able to call in fixed wing aircrafts to do bombing runs or intercept enemy aircraft ?
Thanks a lot.

Must have been brief indeed, the question was answered a few times

No, aircrafts aren't in the game for now.

Hope the get added later.
The total lack of fixed wing aircraft is very unrealistic.

Eugen explained that they focused on the ground and helicopter units (361 in total).
They might add planes later on.

If they don't, then some modders will do. Anyways the game feels alright without planes.

I sure hope they add fixed wings later on. I got used to planes flying around in games where possible (Act of War, C&C, WiC, etcetera). Though they should be expensive to buy/operate so they aren't overused.

Well fixed-wing aircraft wouldn't really fit with the whole focus of the game. Sure in the bigger picture there would be interceptors figting for air superiority thousands of feet above ground and the ever present threat of ground attack aircraft, but their presence on the battlefield would come and go in the blink of an eye. I would say if they got added it would be more in the form of a one-off support option then anything else.

Re: Fixed Wing Aircrafts ?
yes, it would be better to make it "called in strike" rather than fully controlable ones (like in RUSE).
otherwise, there would have been plenty of CAS aircraft to go around the place.

Join air force if you seeking realism. Its a game! An approximation of reality, when will you learn that a game is not a simulation. Go play bus simulator for thrilling 100% realism.
I hate to admit it, but maybe Alcarin was right all of this time.

In case you missed the title gottimw, this is a wargame and is supposed to be model actual battles realistically. Units have Morales, ammo, fuel and realistic range. Nobody would complain about realism if aircraft went missing in a cnc game, but this is not that game.
