I think it is big mistake to do this kind of open beta. Fully open beta can convince someone to buy. I wouldn't buy ruse if there was no beta only this bad demo.

Great.
So i wont be able to play beta with my friends to convince them to buy this game, like I did with RUSE. I'm definitely buying WEE, but not in pre-order, so I cant play in my winter break as well.
Thanks for news Vincent.

Yup...

Actually, what do they expect to get from doing an "Open Beta" like this???

1. Force People to pay to find bugs for them???
2. Shrink the number of players to test the Servers by making it a "Pay Beta"???
3. Make People pay money on a game without reviews, ideas, thoughts... just a leap of faith???

Although I am most likely going to do this... it still isn't a good practice model. Even if they had an Open Beta for 2 days... or a weekend, just to test MP stability, I would be happy. As for this model, the developers not only cut their testers by half, but probably cut their testers to 1/8ths or smaller; these type of gimicks for Beta Testing result in very little data... and because the numbers are not there (even though a large portion may only test to play, it still brings numbers in to test) there is a good chance this 'Beta' really isn't designed to fix much.

Lastly... how long will the Beta Last??? Up until Release??? This may swing me to preorder or just wait a few weeks...

Wargame: EE has very small coverage in media, so it is not very recognizable. If you look on Google Trends you will see how R.U.S.E. was popular comparing to Wargame.

I am trying to help and post some news about game on my blog in one of polish gaming website. But even R.U.S.E. players often have never heard about Wargame.

Maybe they're doing it because plenty of players tend to treat open betas as free demos rather than what they actually are, which is an opportunity to help test an unfinished product. If they restrict it to preorders, then they only get the players who are most interested/ excited in the game and will probably be more likely to understand that the beta is still a work in progress, rather than a PR stunt. Just a thought. I could be wrong of course.

But you can still try for free if you want. Steam will refund preorders if you ask them to, as long as it's before the game's release. Just preorder and cancel if you don't like it.

I do agree that most Beta Testers in an Open Beta are more there to play than to test, however what is important about this "Beta" is that they said it would test MP. When testing Multiplayer, a small sample just doesn't work the same and a large sample!

It would be in their best interest, even with a large percentage of testers just there to play, to Open it Up so that they can test the servers, connections, stress, and most importantly... the true testers can test against/with a variety of different ppl/connections.

Hooray, this is awesome! This pretty much means that since I'm going to pre-order the game, I can play the game next week and don't have to worry about getting or not getting into the beta.. Whoooo!! :3

I was going to preorder this game anyway. But if preordering is the only way to become part of the beta it is not going to make any differance to me as I would not of applyed to become part of a beta I'll leave that to those who know what they are looking for.
