What kind of smoke rounds are you talking about? Artillery, tank (smoke dischargers or maingunrounds?), hand grenades?

all the above.... and I just dont understand why such a simple but effective cover tool isnt in this game(among other things). its like they are trying to make sure the CPU can just rush you any time any place without any real thought in to it.

Smoke for mortars and art'y would be useful for infantry with AT weps could at least attempt to get in range of opposing forces camped in forests. It would simply reduce LOS for a decaying period of time. Remember, smoke works in both directions. There would have to be some method to fire at unseen targets thru the smoke though. That is, if you want to waste ammo.

Or you can just cover cheap tanks with smoke screen and arty spam (stun) the enemy defense force.

Result - cheap tanks get point blank shots that penetrate enemy armor and deal good damage.

I believe smoke screens could be a passive for units that turn panicked. Certainly not an active skill. A one-use "break stun".

Or arty only smoke screens.

That would be comical since most players have arty far behind front line. Imagine firing a smoke shell across the map on enemy tanks so your stuff can get reorganised or something. In the time of shell being in the air enemy falls back and your tanks advance since you don't want to lose the opportunity to push. Then your smoke barrage lands on your tanks making them see nothing... enemy laughs regroups and pushes inf in that smoke cloud... your tanks kaput since they don't see nothing.

Nah smoke would be useless (except for those who jizz on graphical effects ) + devs would have to implement it into UI and since we know that they don't really know how to make a simple and efficient UI opportunity for smoke screen would pass before you could click "use smoke" command.

+ there are already threads for this use search
