With this latest mini dlc I got back to thinking about some of the units i wanted to see in game from UK/Commonwealth. I was really hoping for the Vickers VFM-5 and the Vickers Mk 3/4 as well as Mk 7, 7/2 to make it in as Commonwealth tanks in RD, one can easily conceive of NZ/Canada being interested in the VFM-5 and both Australia and Canada would be excellent candidates for the Vickers MBT line.
My motive for suggesting the VFM-5 is because it complements the amazing LAV-III/ASLAV based cavalry force that is Commonwealth motorized, it provides the opportunity for an amazing mobile 105mm cannon support vehicle to back up the proud scorpion and cougar light tanks. I can pretend I'm playing a stryker brigade if we get this one unit.
The Vickers Mbt 3/4 and 7 or 7/2 provide a very capable set of tanks that meet or exceed the performance of the Leo 1 tanks currently in the Anzac/Canadian arsenal. We know the Australian army trialed the M1 among other vehicles and there is of course the eventual use of Leo 2 tanks by Canada, far from being paper chimeras these afvs would provide an exciting bit of extra muscle to these medium tank armed nations. The Vickers Mk 7 is a fascinating combination of a challenger turret with on a Chobham armored Leo 2 hull, the perfect mix of British resilience and German precision, definitely something to appeal to Canada and Australia. These tanks would likely not exceed the performance of Challenger 1 variants and would provide national muscle to these national decks outside of the context of the coalition. It's a shame they weren't brought in instead of things like the chimera.
Projectnordic in game! will likely see you on pact/red dragons/french!
