[RD] Unit of the Day

Postby [EUG]MadMat » Mon 23 Sep 2013 15:35

In order to start smoothly and give the newcomers some chance to adapt, we will slowly start the Unit of the Day (and not "Daily Unit" as some seemed to have understood while expecting a new unit each day! ;) ) thread.
Since most models are still being, well .. modeled, and we don't have that much new ones ready, I will only post one new vehicle a day.

Those veterans from EE & ALB among you know the rules, but here it is for the newcomers.

Once a week (for now, more frequently later), I'll post here a couple of ingame screenshots of a new vehicle from Red Dragon. Then you'll have the whole day to guess which one it is.
--> only one answer per post and per person.
--> I won't confirm or deny an answer, and therefore design the winner of the day, before the end of the day.

Harbin Z-9 (NATO reporting name "Haitun") of Glorious Chinese faction.

EDIT: Looks like an AA variant , so gotta be Z-9W or later model.

Can't say those look like the TY-90, sure those aren't the HJ-8B?

Well, could be. It was a first educated guess at the time cause it mostly reminded me of Sokol. Either way, earlier models ain't armed so my answer still sorta stands.

Agree that it has to be the Z-9W variant. But the TY-90 are from what I've seen usually not mounted in a launcher tube.

So yeah, Z-9W with HJ-8B ATGMs can't say I see the cannons

EDIT: yeah those are definitly ATGMs

From the shape, they look like HJ-8 series ATGM, but the size is a bit too small I think.

TY-90 would be mighty fine as well, though. Eight dedicated anti-helicopter missiles per Z-9 Helo bringing doom to the nominally superior helicopter forces of the other nations.
