Extreme reckless driving

Postby Nerdfish » Sun 19 Jan 2014 03:09

There is something hilarious about a humvee convoy blazing down the road at 110Km/h.
Anyone who drives will tell you how ridiculously fast that is.
What if you collide with the APC in front of you ? a supply truck ? a crater in the middle of the road ?

I think road speed of some units need to be tone down a bit, not because the vehicles cannot physically go that fast, but the extreme recklessness of driving that fast, especially when road condition is unknown and you may need to avoid collision with slower units.

After all I doubt anyone want to drive into the back of a supply truck full of HE ammo with a entire squad riding in the back.

Ranges are compressed anyway (Factor 2,6 IIRC) so vehicles are even faster.
Maybe this issue gets resolved in RD, probably not.

And what's the point of buying a hmmwv if you go as fast as a damn truck, then...?

More survivability for the infantry within and faster offroad speed just of my tired head.
Check the armory if you want to know more.

I think Humvee could be given good optics and a browning to compensate. they do have pretty nice view :D
Have any of you personally driven that fast ? It's legal in Germany, but totally not safe.

I'm from germany, never have seen one, though.
Good optics and above is for recon vehicles.

not that fast ? are you a F1 Racer ? for Americans, 110kph is same as 68.35 mph.
Let's just say that collision at that kind of speed isn't pretty.

Things should only be able to go that fast in a straight line, because turning radius is huge when you are that fast.

The speed limit on every big highway around here is 70 mph. On Sunday mornings when the State Police are in Church, the speed of traffic is regularly over 90. :P

I have been passed, at that speed, by fat redneck-looking individuals in what appeared to be a 1979 Bronco.
