Type 052 the Queen of the high sea...

Hi fellow Wargamers
Since the coastal warfare is the latest addition to the game, we might as well discuss something about Chinese warships.
As an amateur military fan I am somewhat interested in Chinese military hardware, especially the very modern ones. However, during Wargame: RD, China did not have much modern warships. Personally I'm more familiar with principal surface combatants, so I might not be able to provide much details on smaller boats.
Here's a list of ships that are either confirmed, within time frame, or will not hurt the balance.
Major surface combatants:
Anshan Class (Project 7 Gnevny class refit)
Spoiler : :
PLA Navy's first destroyers, once served in World War Two. The outbreak of Korean War forced PLA Navy to purchase retired Soviet ships rather than British retired ship as planned. Later they received modern refit. Still out of date by the time of Wargame, RD, but are none the less competent when facing even smaller vessels such as PT boats as well as providing off shore bombardment.
Stats
Length: 112.9
Displacement: 2040t
Speed: 38(!) knots (this ship will be able to out run what she cannot out gun)
Offensive Armament:
4x130mm B-13 naval guns
SY-1 Anti ship missile
Defensive Armament:
8x37mm guns of equally ww2 grade technologies

Type 05-1(1971) and its modern refitted version, Type 05-IG(1988)
Spoiler : :
Image
The first indigenous Chinese destroyer. The armament and on-board systems were out of date even in 1970's when it was introduced. They received upgrades during 1980's, adding much needed modern armament to the ships, to at least give them a chance in modern naval battle. It is a confirmed unit, and will surely serve as your Cat C flagship.
Basic stats:
Length: 132m
displacement: 3670t
Speed: 32 knots
Stock:
Offensive Armaments:
2x130mm naval guns, two turrets, this remain unchanged after modern refit
HY-1 anti-ship missiles, known as "silkworm" in the west.
Defensive Armaments:
primitive 37mm and 57mm anti aircraft guns of ww2 level technologies
ASW rockets and depth charge launchers
After refit:
Offensive Armaments:
same main gun
YJ-80 series anti-ship missiles
Yu-7 torpedoes
Defense armaments:
H/PJ-76A 2x37mm anti aircraft guns, 4 turrets
HHQ-7 surface to air missiles, in a 8 missiles launcher
ASW rocket launchers and decoy launchers

Type 05-2(1994)
Spoiler : :
The latest development of Chinese naval technology. It was not only China's first gas turbine powered destroyer, but also the first truly modern destroyer in the fleet. It might look pathetic compare to Type 052C and D they have today, but back in early 1990's, it was the ultimate warship of the fleet. For a ship entered service in 1994, it is perfectly within time frame. This, will be the flagship of your Cat A fleet.
There's one fun fact, it actually packs two American GE LM 2500 gas turbine.
Basic stats:
Length: 144m
Displacement: 4800t
Speed: 31 knots
Offensive Armaments:
H/PJ-33A 2x100mm naval gun
YJ-80 series anti-ship missiles
Yu-7 torpedoes
Defensive armaments:
H/PJ-76A 2x37mm anti aircraft gun
HHQ-7 surface to air missiles.
ASW rocket launchers and decoy launchers

Special-OH-1-like-beyond-1995-but-might-still-work unit: 8-)
Project 956 Sovremenny class Destroyer
Spoiler : :
Glorious wooosh
Image

I know it is not Moskit, but the sight of missile launching is still quite awe-inspiring ;)

Chinese navy purchased these ships during 1990's and received them in 2000. However, the ships themselves existed since 1980, and in an alternative time line, it is not very hard for Soviets to sell them earlier should China decide to break its alliance with Americans and return to Soviet bloc.
Length: 156m
Displacement: 7940t
Speed: 32 knots
Offensive Armaments:
2 AK-130-MR-84 2x130mm naval gun
P-270 Moskit anti ship missiles
3S90M Shtil medium range SAM system
Defensive armaments:
4 of 30mm AK-630 CIWS system (providing much needed modern CIWS)

Frigates:
Type 05-3H (1974)
Spoiler : :
Image
Based on the Riga class frigate, they were among earliest frigates in service of PLA Navy and will act as the bread and butter for your Cat C fleet.
Stats:
Length: 103m
Displacement:1702t
Speed: 32 knots
Armament:
2x100mm naval gun
6 SY-1 anti ship missiles.
Defensive Armaments:
4 of 2x37mm anti aircraft guns of ww2 technologies
ASW rockets and depth charge launchers

Type 05-3H2 (1985)
Spoiler : :
A much improved model of Type 05-3, it is fitted with far more modern armament
Stats:
Length: 103m
Displacement: 2000t
Speed: 32 knots
Offensive Armament:
H/PJ-79A 2x100mm naval gun
YJ-80 series anti ship missiles
Defensive Armaments:
H/PJ-76A 2x37mm anti aircraft gun
ASW rocket launchers and decoy launchers

Type 05-3K air defense frigate
Spoiler : :
Fear the wooosh
Image
This is an interesting one among all these ship to ship combatants. It was the only anti air frigate of Chinese navy until later HHQ-7 armed ships entered service. Sadly enough it does not have any anti-ship missiles, which means she definitely need escorts.
Basic stats:
Length: 103m
Displacement: 1700t
Speed: 30 knots
Offensive Armaments:
H/PJ-33A 2x100mm naval gun
2 of HHQ-61 medium range surface to air missile launchers, with 2 missiles each (since it has at least 10km of range, might as well treat it as offensive)
Defensive armaments:
4 of H/PJ-76A 2x37mm anti aircraft gun
ASW rocket launchers and decoy launchers

Type 05-3HG(1992)
Spoiler : :
Image
This ship was first modern Chinese frigate, and will be appropriate for her to be your bread and butter ship in your Cat A fleet.
Basic stats:
Length: 112m
Displacement: 2250t
Speed: 28 knots
Offensive Armaments:
H/PJ-33A 2x100mm naval gun
YJ-80 series anti-ship missiles
Yu-7 torpedoes
Defensive armaments:
H/PJ-76A 2x37mm anti aircraft gun
HHQ-7 surface to air missiles.
ASW rocket launchers and decoy launchers

Minor Surface Combatants:
Shantou class gun boats(1955):
Spoiler : :
Not much known about this boat, but it is a confirmed unit after all, might as well provide some basic stats:
Length: 41m
Displacement: 77t
Speed: 22 knots
armament:
4 37mm anti aircraft guns of ww2 technologies
2 14.5mm HMG
Depth charges

Type 06-2 gun boats
Spoiler : :
This is a confirmed unit for the glorious Korean People's Navy, but it does not mean that China did not, or will not, have them.
Length: 36m
Displacement: 122t
Speed: 28 knots
Armament:
57mm H/PJ-66 gun
4 of H/PJ-61 25mm anti aircraft guns
Depth charges
Or:
4 of 37mm anti aircraft guns
H/PJ-61 25mm anti aircraft guns
1 81mm recoiless rifle

Type 03-7 submarine chaser/patrol boats(1964):
Spoiler : :
Image
Among the few Chinese naval vessels that actually saw combat and won victories in Vietnam War, although their opponents were no more than South Vietnamese ships. Size wise they were much larger than average missile boats can can be more or less considered as a corvette.
Length: 58m
Displacement: 400t
Speed: 30 knots
Armament:
2 of H/PJ-66 57mm guns
4 of 25mm anti aircraft guns
ASW rocket launchers

Type 02-1 missile boats (1965)
Spoiler : :
Chinese version of Osa missile boats, it to the PLA Navy in the 1980 is much like what Type 022 was to Chinese navy in 2006.
Stats:
Length: 38m
Displacement: 205t
Speed: 35 knots
Armament:(1965)
2 of H/PJ-69(AK-230) 2x30mm gun
2 of 2x23mm anti aircraft guns
SY-1 anti ship missles
or (1989? modern refit)
2 of 2x30mm AK-230
2 of 2x23mm anti aircraft guns
YJ-80 series missiles

Type 03-7-II missile boats (1990)
Spoiler : :
Image
Orginally served as an "advanced" missile boat. It is unusually large for a missile boat and therefore should be considered as a corvette of some sort.
Length: 65m
Displacement: 520t
Speed: 32 knots
Armament:
2 of H/PJ-69(AK-230) 2x30mm gun
2x H/PJ-76A 2x37mm anti aircraft gun
YJ-80 family of missiles

Landing vessels:
Wargame: AirLandSea Battle 8-)
Image
(The ship is likely to be a Type 07-2II)
These ships might be in game and classified as either fire support ships or "corvettes". Since the naval combat in RD is mostly amphibious landing operation, might as well provide details on landing crafts:
Type 07-3 class LSM(1969)
Spoiler : :
Among the first domestic LSMs, it was quite standard for its class
Length: 69m
Displacement: 850t
Speed: 15 knots
Armament:
2 of H/PJ-61 2x37mm gun
2x 2x25mm anti aircraft gun

Type 07-4 LSM (1970)
Spoiler : :
Slower than type 07-3 and has less dakka, not a very good one if you ask me
Length: 58.4m
Displacement: 500t
Speed: 14 knots
Armament:
3 2x25mm anti aircraft gun

Type 07-2 LST(1977)
Spoiler : :
Not very outstanding for a LST
Length: 120m
Displacement: 4170t
Speed: 18 knots
Armament:
4 of H/PJ-66 2x57mm gun
4 of 25mm anti aircraft gun
MANPAD operators on-board

Type 07-2-II LST(1993)
Spoiler : :
Modernized Type 07-2
Length: 120m
Displacement: 4800t
Speed: 18 knots
Armament:
4 of H/PJ-66 2x57mm gun
4 of 25mm anti aircraft gun
MANPAD operators no-board

For H-J and others that has better knowledge on the topic, if you know more details, you are most welcomed to add it as well as correcting some mistakes I made

This would be my dream ship in RD.

Slightly OOTF, but 1994 service date should pass just fine.

052 is perfectly within timeframe. But even then the PLA Navy at that time-period is still quite Sad.
However,053K and 052 are not the only PLAN Warship with Anti-Aircraft missiles.

For 053K with YJ-8 ASM,you'll be looking at the 053H2G.
And at least 1 051 is known to have Sea Crotale.
