Wargame Falklands : role play

Hey all,

This is inspired by the Wargame Vietnam guys.

After having a browse through the RD armory and comparing it with the Air, Land and Sea forces used in the Falklands Conflict.
I am fairly confident we could get a Role play of the Falklands war on Wargame :)

Currently the maps available on Beta are not suitable to simulate this, but once there is an island styled map. Then who knows.

Here is a basic rundown of units for each side:

UK - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_gr ... klands_War
Paratroopers
Marine Commandos / Gurkhas
SAS + SBS
CVR Scimitar, Scorpion x6
Land Rovers
Milan
Rapier FSCS
Blowpipe
Harrier GR3 + Sea Harrier
Lynx
Hatsuyuki (Type 42 place holder)
Type 21 Frigates

Argentina - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_ ... s_War#Army
Marines
LVTP-7
Riverrine
Roland 1
Reservistes
Super Entendard (Exocet)
Mirage III0 (F)
A4F Skyhawk II
GUNTANK
Hatsuyuki Destroyers (Type 42, Harpoon OFF)

If interested, please give your Wargame ID.

This is just an early stage plan, there would need to be some ground rules to make this RP fun but also realistic to the conflict.

Any inputs welcome!

You can't get both reservistes and LVPT-7s in the same deck (and by marines I'm assuming you mean RIMa because if you mean US marines you can't have those either unless you go mixed in which case you're gimping yourself on availability vs the british deck and also won't get reservistes).

Hey, count me in aswell.
Did this with a buddy in ALB already. I'd suggest that the British only take the scout scorpion/scimitar as not many of them were used(6 scorpions IIRC). Furthermore Lynx with Sea Skua can be used.
Maybe the British community could give even more exact information on the British equipment in the Falkland war?
Furthermore Argentinia must not use Leopard 1s and Marder but therefore should get access to Mirage bombers(not sire about the F1 CT).

GB UNITS:

Add Harrier GR.3 to that list also.

You may wish to consider using a Hatsuyuki with Harpoon switched to OFF to be a poor mans representative of the Type 42 destroyers. The overall shape, sensor lay out, weapons locations are not dissimilar.

You will also wish to add SBS to the list.

Lynx Sea Skua will be another ship you wish to add to the list

Argentine units:

Consider also adding Hatsuyuki with Harpoon switch to OFF to be a poor mans representative of the Type 42. As with UK.

Why Mirage F1 2000? That is silly when you can use the ANZAC Mirage III0 (F) for CAS which is far more authentic

Using Mixed nato also allows the use of Iron bomb A4 from US again delivering an authentic feel.

Again mixed nato also allows the use of the Japanese GUNTANK to represent 35mm SPAAG defending Stanley as well as Roland 1 systems

I'd modify to this:

UK

Paratroopers
Marine Commandos
SAS
CVR Scimitar, Scorpion
Land Rovers
Milan
Rapier FSCS
Blowpipe
Sea Harrier FRS.1
Harrier GR.3
Type 21 Frigates
Hatsuyuki Destroyers (Type 42, Harpoon OFF)
Lynx HAS.2
SBS
Lynx AH.1

Argentina
Marines
LVTP-7
Riverrine
Roland 1
Reservistes
Super Entendard (Exocet)
Mirage III0 (F)
A4F Skyhawk II
GUNTANK
Hatsuyuki Destroyers (Type 42, Harpoon OFF)

Will think up more later. :).

I would say also just go with pre made decks and get players to copy paste the code in. That way you can get a roughly historic oob. Do some regimental decks for example.

I've already given examples in my above post of the layout of the argentine forces. They are best represented with a mixed deck as this gives them access to more authentic kit.
