+1 Recon needs an overhaul, mostly in the "good" optics vehicles and 5 men shock recon teams.

I think the best thing I've seen put forth for shock recon is to give them all some form of niche weapon: flamethrowers, DMRs, RCLs with HE, whatever would help that nation/ coalition and give them a more defined role aside from "It'll probably kill any weapons teams it runs across, then die horribly to something else."

Still the OP is probably one of the more interesting and inventive ideas out there.

sitting at top of my wishlist, next to zone/map updates

please put 80% of useless recon units back into the action

and much better suggestion topic than most others floating around currently

In this suggestion, are the vehicles repurposed as transports still recon vehicles? I.e. Have good or v. good optics?

The ones which were originally recon vehicles yes (at least my understanding)
certain others not
