People leaving MP matches

Postby baz44331 » Sat 19 Apr 2014 12:13

Guys this needs to be addressed big time. Every game i play people just leave the first 3 minutes in. Its a total mess and its getting like MOW, people lose a aircraft or spend all there points or just get there ass kicked and they just leave. then its left to 3 or 4 people to hold the line.

Ban them for 3 hours if they leave a game. its the only way.

Yes, it's a pain and it breaks the game. Devs should pay attention to this problem.

There must be some automatic system that will punish players for leaving requlary. It's ok to leave a battle once a day maybe for some real life reasons and player shoudn't be punished for it, but if player leaves several battles in some short period of time he should be automatically banned from multiplayer for some reasonable period of time than, keeping an oportunity to play singleplayer of course. It's not a great deal to create some clear rules about it and implement an automatic system that will handle such temporary bans.

Oh good this thread again. Well I wonder that it a took almost 2 days after the release to bring it up...

Well, this problem has been an issue for wargame ever since and I'm probably not overstepping my bounds when I say it won't be changed. As a workaround people will tell you to play with friends. You know, people that you know and can rely on.

How to find friends? Well, they will tell you to join a clan or just ask around in the forums and ingame chat...

What does all that mean? Well, it means that the multiplayer in wargame is no multiplayer as you may know it from the other games. The simple fact that you need friends to have enjoyable matches makes it no "ad-hoc multiplayer" as you might have expected it to be. You cannot search for a random game, jump in and have fun. Although that being the formula for casual matches in all successful multiplayer titles, this is not how it is supposed to work in wargame. The multiplayer in wargame - with exception of the 10vs10 servers maybe - is not ad-hoc. You need to prepare and organize your wargame multiplayer matches if you want them to be of "normal" quality.
The unofficial systems requirements are like so

IMHO it is the lack of "crowd control" like in-game-votes, match-making-queues and quitters that will keep wargame a niche game forever. Which is totally sad if you ask me, because it can compete with any AAA title out there in terms of gameplay... :(

This. Once you start playing with friends you'll never go back. Plus you can play with some fun weaker decks like ANZAC and the such as you know you can count on friends to help out and don't need to take your tryhard deck as you can only rely on your self.

This topic is discussed to hell already, both in EE, ALB and now in RD.

There are lots of reasons why you can't punish so called "leavers", so grab some friends or make some friends in-game. Or play 1vs1, if you too anti-social to have friends.

There's been plenty of reasonable ways to discourage leaving/laggers suggested. None implemented, sadly.

It would be enough to add a counter of QUITS next to user profile.

So when all players will be in a pre-game setup, all will see how many "often Quiters" are there, and host can kick their ass out before game.

Assuming of course that the people didn't quit because of Team Killers or the other pubs making the match unwinnable and them not wishing to suffer through the utter defeat till the end.

How many times has that happened to you? If it's enough in that it would be statistically relevant after a hundred or so rounds then have you broken tons of mirrors/walked under ladders a lot lately? haha
