Re: Longbows
I will say, for having the accuracy that it does it misses way to much. Maybe thats to balance out the fact that it has 16? But then whats the point? Paying high price for something with high accuracy weapons should hit most if not all its targets.

Re: Longbows
I just don't see why the longbow gets the same optics as other exceptional helos despite it having a radar dish mounted on top

???? It's already at what seems to be the cap for ATGM ACC, what do you want? Statistically 3/4 missiles will hit. That's 12 missiles, or a few hundred points of dead units.

Re: Longbows
The Longbow is absolutely amazing, it's a piece of very specialised equipment with few roles. The few roles it does do however, it excels at, albeit with a tiny bit of mirco. Even then wasting missiles doesn't concern me much when it has so many.

Re: Longbows
I assume the first one or two missiles miss because the helicopter is still flying while they're being aimed and fired, and thus they have reduced accuracy. The solution would be to turn off the missiles, fly into range, wait for it to stop, and turn on missiles.

no guys it has better aim while traveling at 300 km/h shooting at a moving target

I leave the missiles off until I want to start shooting, (which is usually when it's stopped) Same with Akula, and most helos I do that.

apaches are more than capable of firing on the move. in theory, fire and forget missiles should have 100 percent accuracy that is only affected by countermeasure systems. but that would be terrible for balance, so they just get really high accuracy. the accuracy on the move should be the same as stationary though. the pilot isn't manually guiding those missiles like a semi active ATGM.
Re: Longbows
Wow, a Longbow UP thread. Now I've seen everything.
That being said, I've had great luck using them to stop initial rushes. Sit them near a choke point with another cheaper helo to take the hits, and laugh maniacally as the enemy's advance disappears. If you add in a Nighthawk to suppress and/or kill the enemy's AA, it works even better.
My usual combo is a Longbow paired up with a Super Cobra. The Cobra acts as a meatshield to buy time for the Longbow to either kill the AA or pull back, and also deters some fighters. Just make sure the Cobra is closer to the enemy than the Longbow is, and they're spread out, or else the whole enterprise will be ruined (as happened to a friend of mine. He tried to do the same thing. A Crotale said NOPE. Both helos died in one missile hit. 'Twas very sad.)

IT IS FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Yeah, not a Longbow UP thread. You haven't seen everything.
So, I just used the Longbow, and it massacred alot of enemy tanks and even Strela-10Ms which I vehemently hate.
Keeping my beloved Apaches alive is tough in a PONGAE-3, Igla and Strela-10 filled environment......

Well yes it is F and F. But the missile is only so smart? and the game mechanics always consider stabilizers FandF or not.
