Helicopter CVs redundant?

Postby CommissarDornez » Thu 3 Jul 2014 13:34

I just wondered what the community's opinion on this is, in my eyes the helicopter CV has become completely redundant with the addition of helicopter borne CV infantry. The only attractive feature of the helicopter CV is slightly higher availability and slightly lower cost, but they're far easier to lose and impossible to hide meaning that they often aren't nearly worth it.

Does anyone actually use these things anymore and if so why? I feel like they somehow need to become attractive again, as I can safely say I've never seen them used and only ever used them myself once when I accidentally put a Puma CV Helo in a deck instead of a Puma Logistics Helo...

They do pop up occasionally, but they rarely seem to last very long...

They were viable in ALB as they could be landed in swamps, where they would gain concealment.

Bring back swamps.

We also never had CV infantry which could hide anywhere back in ALB. There just doesn't seem to be any upside for Helicopter CVs compared to CV Infantry.

Actually the units in swamps didn't get any concealment, just slow. The camoflage-effect was cosmetic

I never see them, and when I do i laugh. Almost always I see where they land, and arty or other jets are too effective at taking them out.

Cv infantry costs only 20 more and on REDFOR side flies faster than the CV chopper. And you can conceal infantry ,helis you cannot.

So basically with CV heliborn infantry there is no place for CV shoppers in this game at all. To cap they need to land, which is the same as with CV infantry in helos. Yes,were paying 20 more but that is invaluable.

CV helis should be able to cap without landing. It would still be vulnerable, but you could use it offensively to stop reinforcements spawns or air strikes. It would also be able to escape quickly.

Of course, this might not be possible in the current engine.
