Infantry rebalance

Postby superspartan100 » Fri 25 Jul 2014 05:01

I was just wondering what has been done to make line infantry a better choice in some cases over elite infantry.

I think the stationary machine guns need to have way way higher accuracy.

That is one of the glaring problems in game. SF are getting 60-70% accuracy LMGs/Assault Rifles etc. But line infantry are not getting more than 30-40% accuracy with STAT mode on.

I think this should be reversed.

Nothing. IFVs. That's about it.
Line inf are more mass area denial, in the end they'll lose out to elite inf. But you do get some shiny, far too cost effective IFVs with decent availability now.

They don't take up enough mass to deny anything

I meant mass as in across the map, deploying enough elite infantry to effectively hold off armour across the entire map is bloody expensive. Using them at chokehold buildings, etc.

Elite inf still dies just as easily to napalm and arty after all, I'd prefer my 15 point line infantry die than my 40 point elite inf.

Use SF to take forest/city then retreat and replace with line inf to hold.

^this

I think infantry is in a good spot now, at least "normal" infantry.
atgms could have less ammo, because 2 guys can't really carry a Konkurs or Milan with 6 shots.

line inf. are useful as a cheap AT barrier, and for defending less important areas on the map, and they are useful for providing armies with good autocannon platforms and sometimes even with ATGMs.
