That looks decidedly more modern than early 90's. What year was it adopted?

1994

This is by far the most beautiful weapon made by Russians.. would he extremely cool, but would be displayed as a standard SVD since special variations of some firearms are nicht correct, eg no CAR-15 but M-16 instead.

Didn't Delta use to have the CAR-15? Or at least something close to it?

The SVU project (Snaiperskaya Vintovka Ukorochennaya- shortened sniper rifle) traces its roots back to 1970s, when it was decided to develop a compact sniper rifle for Soviet airborne (VDV)troops. Such rifle was designed using standard Dragunov SVDaction converted to bullpup layout. Back then this project never wentpast development stage, but in around 1991 it was resurrected in Tula and offered to Russian Internal Affairs Ministry (MVD) as a possibleweapon for urban operations. At that time MVD accepted the offer, but requested the rifle to be converted from semi-automatic to selectivefired version (probably inspired by German HK G8 "police automaticrifle"). Such conversion was developed by TSKIB SOO (Central Sportingand Hunting Arms Design Bureau in Tula). It was initially known asOTs-03 in semi-automatic version and as OTs-03A and OTs-03AS inselective fired versions (SVU, SVU-A and SVU-AS respectively). Sincemid-nineties this rifle was produced in Tula and issued in limitednumbers to various law enforcement organizations across the Russia.

+1 for SVU-AS.
RoF of the assault rifle, more ammo and [CQC] - and they won't even need a machinegun...

ANZAC were planning to procure the Waler IFV actually. Quite similar to the Canadian TH-495 in many respects (including Cold War-over cancellation)

A shame i'd never heard about that one before ...

Another dream crushed.

Finally some generalist infantry for USSR. Even if they're expensive, being able to get an infantry squad that's at least competent in everything an infantry squad needs to do will be very nice.

Poor ickle pgrens and being priced five points cheaper than VDV, being better in every way with near elite anti-infantry and having much better deck and transport availability. At least pick something other than the most blatantly underpriced unit in the game.

It's not in infantry panel. It's recon.

And I doubt it can win combat against any NATO shock (not even elite) infantry with MG3 or Minimi.
