Mysterious Crater Layer

Postby KattiValk » Sun 28 Dec 2014 06:19

Seriously, why is the terrain damage still somehow underneath the ground layer? Was it meant to be a feature? It looks hideous as units will float in midair above it and scrolling past it is terribly annoying.

I'm not asking it to be fixed, as this late in there really isn't much point with Eugen focused on AoA, but an explanation as to its origins would be welcome.

It's pretty LuLz after a B-5 drops payload as well.

Think you have what it takes to enlist into the military? You sure about that?

I'm not any expert on game development, but what was stopping Eugen from going back to the ALB crater graphics after this bug was discovered about 5 min after the game was released in beta?

Might be something to do with thr new maps why they can't change it back. Coming up with a solution would be nice though it's hyper ugly

If you look at the craters, there's definitely some crazy height differences from the lips of the bigger craters to the bottoms. Perhaps they tried to simulate terrain deformation and just gave up halfway through?

It won't be fixed, they'll be working on AOA now and this is not a pressing concern for them....

A shame as it looks so awful.

From zoomed out at the level you actually play at the craters look perfectly normal. I completely forget that it's a thing tbh.

This has been pointed out since beta.

Eugen know about it and don't care.
A brilliant plan from the dirtiest euro-hippie: get US players to pay me for a game that I then show them how much their military sucks so I can feel better about being a communist.
