The T-80

Postby Hollywood Myth » Tue 10 Feb 2015 22:33

What do you folks think about it?

Personally, it's no Leopard 1, but 2275/40%/16AP/9RPM with 13AV and 70km/h for 65 points is not bad at all.

Good on you Eugen.

All I can say is it's about time. Might need a little bit of fine tuning, but it's in a much better place.

Not bad at all. Most significantly relative to the 1A5 you're losing a decent chunk of accuracy, the optics, and paying 5 points more, but in exchange you're getting +3 frontal armor.

It's really nice to have the balance tweak for a long-suffering unit arrive, and instead of being "it's 5 points cheaper but you'd still never want to use it" we actually get a change that has me putting it up against one of the most cost-effective tanks in the game and have to think really hard about which I'd prefer.

I want to replace my T-72A with it, but 65 points is definitely too expensive for the "cheap meat tank" role I've been using the T-72A for. (which was, itself, more than I really wanted to pay but I really do think the extras it gets are worth it over the base T-72)

You get more AP with the T-80 though, which makes the T-72A redundant now. But the T-80B looks even better. But the T-72B1 is still my favourite.

Not bad at all but no one will use it after a week.

I agree entirely- it really does make the T-72A obsolete.

On the other hand, I don't know what I want to replace the T-72A in my deck for the "cheap metal" category. More Norovs and ZHalos? BMP-685? Maybe I just need to suck it up and downgrade to the stock T-72.

It's inauthentic as it stands, so we should buff the T-64A to it's standard. Then all is good.

Not what I expected, but what the hell. It's worth half a damn now.

The speed, armor and autoloader combination make it potentially very useful for rushing the enemy under smoke cover.
