MGs standardisation :

Since there is a lot of whines about mgs since the begining of this game, it's time to standardize all that. I'll take a minimum of criterion to keep the things as simple as possible. I kept most common existing values.


1) Category

- SAW = CQC, +10% base acc
- LMG = STAT

2) Caliber

- 7.62 and co : 825m range, 155 HE splash, 55 SPRN Dammage, Supply 20, if SAW, then 20% base stabs.
- 5.56 and co : 770m range, 130 HE splash,40 SPRN Dammage, Supply 10, if SAW then 40% base stabs.

3) Fedding system

- Belt fed : 1.5 sec shot interval, 16 Shots per Burst, 5 sec reload time, 200 ammo per salvo.
- Mag fed : 2 sec shot interval, 8 Shots per Burst, 2.5 sec reload time, 100 ammo per salvo, +5% stabs.

4) Type of mg :

- dedicated mg : 50% base acc
- converted assault rifle : 40% base acc

Examples :

Minimi or K3 LMG: CQC, 770m range, 130 HE splash,40 SPRN Dammage, Supply 10, 50% acc, 40% stabs, 1.5 sec shot interval, 16 Shots per Burst, 5 sec reload time, 200 ammo per salvo.

RPK or C2A1 : CQC, 825m range, 155 HE splash, 55 SPRN Dammage, Supply 20, 50% acc, 25% stabs, 2 sec shot interval, 8 Shots per Burst, 2.5 sec reload time, 100 ammo per salvo.

MG3 or M60 : STAT, 825m range, 155 HE splash, 55 SPRN Dammage, Supply 20, 40% acc, 1.5 sec shot interval, 16 Shots per Burst, 5 sec reload time, 200 ammo per salvo.

This makes too much sense to ever make it into the game.

Way too late for anything this drastic to happen now and it's already been suggested multiple times, so it's not happening.

Better late than never.

Anyway, this isn't about will it happend or not, only Eugens knows, it's about, do you agre with those changes, would it work, what is good, what is wrong, etc.

I believe if eveyones support this change, Eugen could consider it.

The advantage of the OP system is that there is only 4 criterion, all based on average "standards" ingame mg stats, some of them already being standardised.

So FLX won't slave over his infantry spreadsheets? Probably not

To be fair the MGs and SAWs have differences in ROF and caliber and some granularity id warranted.

A whole-sale standardisation would be bland and monotonous. Eugene has gotten better at balancing and with time the game will be better even if not everyone agrees.

I don't know about the specific numbers provided, but certainly the idea is a good one and has come up many times.

It would definitely make it easier to compare units via up-front stats. Having to consult the hidden stat sheet is a pain.

Who cares about infantry mgs when bombers/BMPT/SPAAGS are blowing their powaa just with a click :lol: ?

I don't see the point in standardising MG's and then add arbitrary diffrences that does not really reflect real life. If we are going to standardise then just make all MGs the same. While we are at it so could we reduce the damage of MGs as while they are better then an assault rifle so do they currently do as much damage as the entire rest of the squad, wich is not very realistic.
