[RD] Map Pack #2's localization

Postby [EUG]MadMat » Mon 16 Nov 2015 11:56

Hi,

We are now working on the next set of new maps (two different settings on TMI) and variants to be released.

As for the first pack, we may require help with some translation in Spanish, Italian, German, Korean, Polish, Chinese & Russian.

The two names we wish to translate are those for the two different variants of TMI (more details here):
    (4v4) Sun of Juche
    (4v4) Final Meltdown (reference ;) )
(1v1) Hell in a very small place
, refering to Bernard Fall's book.

So far, I have:

US:
#2vs2 Sun of Juche
#4vs4 Final Meltdown
#1vs1 Hell in a Very Small Place

FR:
#2vs2 L'Aube du Juche
#4vs4 Fusion Finale
#1vs1 Un Coin d'Enfer

GR:
#2vs2 Sonne der Juche
#4vs4 Totale Kernschmelze
#1vs1 Hölle in einem sehr kleinem Ort

SPA:
nothing ... :(

ITA:
#2vs2 Il Sole Di Juche
#4vs4 Fusione Finale
#1vs1 Un Angolo d'Inferno

KOR:
nothing ... :(

POL:
#2vs2 Słońce Juche
#4vs4 Ostateczne Stopienie
#1vs1 Piekło na ziemi

RU:
#2vs2 Светило Чучхе
#4vs4 Последний Кризис
#1vs1 Ад на клочке земли

CHI:
#2vs2 主體的太陽
#4vs4 爭奪三哩島
#1vs1 方寸地獄

JPN:
#2vs2 しゅたいしそうのたいよう
#4vs4 ろしんゆうかい
#1vs1 じごくのいっちょうめ

German:

Literal translation:
Sun of Juche --> Sonne des Juche
Final Meltdown --> Finale Kernschmelze

While "Sonne des Juche" sounds pretty good in german, I am not sure about "Finale Kernschmelze".

I would suggest "Totale Kernschmelze" (=complete Meltdown) a bit further into the physical background of it (if it's not too far of the original thing). And it should be "Sonne der Juche" from my point of view. Its an ideology and is accompanied by the female article in German.

"Die Hölle ist ein sehr kleiner Ort" would be my suggestion for a literal translation to German. Somehow sounds weird to me though.

Eatalian again for added title:

- Inferno in un piccolo posto: this is the literal translation, which doesn't sound that good.
"L'Assedio di Dien Bien Phu" would be the translation of the subtitle of the book (Seige of Dien Bien Phu).

Russian:
Светило Чучхе (Sun of Juche)
Неуправляемая цепная реакция (Final Meltdown)
Ад на клочке земли (Hell in a very small place)

I think "Die letzte Kernschmelze" would be a more fitting translation maybe? Considering "totale" is about the severity of the Kernschmelze, while "final" is more about that it is the last one happening?

In French (and although the author was half-French), the title was not translated litteraly. It is more like "Hell's Corner" ("Un Coin d'Enfer").
Maybe that would be easier to translate in German or Italian?[/quote]

Then i guess a better sounding translation would be "Un'Angolo D'Inferno" for Italian.
I looked around for an Italian translation of the book myself but there doesn't seem to be one.
