Wargame Tools site, it lives!

Postby Buck Turgidson » Wed 8 Jun 2016 22:20

Ok, so here it is. Didn't want to say anything until I actually got it up and running:

http://rd.wargame.tools

Featuring replays and decks. Follows the "keep it simple" rule, nothing fancy here but it does its job.

You can anonymously upload replays just like it was with the RD beta replay dump. I figured user management would just be a pointless hassle. So treat it as a dump - that's what it essentially is. Filters exist for filtering ranked replays, filtering by game mode and a "full text search" is available as well (searches player name, map name, title, description etc.).

You can extract decks from replays using the site and visualize decks if you have a deck string copied from the game/replay. You can link directly to decks if you like.

Also, sorry for the abrupt death of alb-replays.info. The domain expired and I hadn't set it for auto renewal as I didn't expect the lifespan of the site to be that long in the first place. I wasn't really maintaining it either so I kinda let it go.

A few weeks ago I wanted to test out the new .NET Core platform in web development and I needed a pet project for that so wargame.tools was kinda born out of that need. I had some people contacting me about the old site so I figured I'd see what would come out of this and put it online if I felt like it could serve a purpose. I thought it would be a good replacement for the RD beta replay dump so here it is.

As I was testing the deck tools I also aped up a little shell extension to copy deck strings out of replays but I'm not sure if people are interested in it. I may post it here / link to it from the site if people want it.

I hope you find these tools useful. Enjoy! :P

cool, thanks for your efforts, I did notice in Chrome when i clicked on a deck picture from a replay file it was cutting off the left edge of the deck unit display, might just be my system settings.

Yeah it's a bit crude, if you have a low resolution screen it'll most likely cut off a bit as it simply scales up the deck element and doesn't reserve space for it. The UI isn't very polished (aka "Works on My Machine" ;) ).

Also looks like the listing had a little bug I had to squish regarding ranked replays. Should be working now.
