Cuban Units in Wargame RD!

Postby QUAD » Mon 11 Jul 2016 19:14

The Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias, commanded by none other than Fidel Castro, fulfills extremely unique geopolitical needs during the Cold War, balancing the constant need to defend it self from the United States with attempts at force projection in Africa and South America. Supplied by the Soviets, the Cubans nonetheless modify Soviet equipment to fit their operational needs of high mobility, dogged infantry warfare. Simple but effective wheeled IFVs, crack infantry, and highly mobile support options allow the wily and determined Cubans to constantly keep the enemy on their toes and excel at close quarters fighting...

*UPDATED!* :D

LOGISTICS

BTR-60 Command
UAZ
David "Iguana" Car http://s14.postimg.org/nu3ciuolt/image.png
Infantry Command in various transports

INFANTRY

Infantería '75standard Pact squad with AKM, RPG-7, and PKM.
Infantería '90- Cuba acquired the RPG-29 in 1989, and definitely would have received many of this system in an extended Cold War. There are also images circulating of some kind of domestically produced M72 LAW clone, it would have M72A4 stats if anything. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-grVixYEF484/U ... nchers.jpg
Fuerzas Especiales '75- Crack Cuban paratroopers, dispatched to send Castro's will. AKM, RPK, and SPG-9 for flavor.
Fuerzas Especiales '90- They could definitely receive the RPG-29.
Miliciano de Tropas Territoriales- Cuban militia, operated the PM 63 Polish submachine gun as well as standard Soviet small arms. They could use PM 53s and RPG-7 ingame. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rSqohmDouZ0/U ... an06_a.jpg
Ingeniero del Asalto- Flamethrower team.
Fagot- infantry ATGM Cuba operates.
AT-3 Maluktya- Cuba domestically produces this system, it could warrant slightly higher AP or accuracy.
Infantería ligera-In Angola Cuban troops made good use of the terrain in defense and operated as light infantry. AKM, RPG-7 and RPK with line training and MI-8 /motorized transports. Could also use SPG-9, Strela, or even Fagot.
AGS-17- Cuba operates this potent fire support weapon.
Desembarco de Granma-Naval shock troops. Loadouts would be copy pasta of core line infantry most likely, transports no tracked. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q7NbWB8V8pw/U ... 6011_n.jpg
Strela MANPAD team
Grupo Tactico Especial- I don't know much about these guys, but they serve under the ministry of the interior and sport all black. Definitely would serve an anti-infantry role if in Wargame for a flavor reason, similar to Wachregiment. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IEr70XGnv8s/U ... nistry.jpg

TRANSPORTS

BTR-60
BTR-60 Fagot

David "Iguana" Car http://s30.postimg.org/7z9ilj37l/mgr.jpg
BMP-1, BMP-1D
Cannimar 57mm- BTR-60 loaded with light MLRS on top. Could potentially transport troops, act as arty in the support tab... or both. http://s30.postimg.org/tfl2m2cmp/Screen ... _32_46.png
BTR-60 23mm- BTR-60 with 23mm AA gun on top, might be able to transport troops but I am unsure.
MI-8

ARMOR

T34/85

T72M1 (T72B1 with improved tropical performance and armor via domestic modifications, Cuba received these in the early 1990s.) http://c2.kommersant.ru/ISSUES.PHOTO/TE ... bzsruj.gif

RECON

BDRM-2
Destino Especial Naval Could serve as an elite 2 man sniper squad... with the Mamba, an Anti-Material Rifle designed by Cuba and in the timeframe. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Yplo7PUFbVc/U ... /naval.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QhWHbfCD53s/U ... wMambi.jpg
M8 Greyhound
PT-76
Note that assorted vehicles like the Jabali and modified BTR-60s could also serve recon roles.

-BTR-60 M1961/1 (PT-76 turret, possible recon vehicle or transport?):Possibly fake.
Image
-T-34 with M46 130mm gun (no specifics behind that, looks like D-30):

Thole look like Strela-3's
Mobile S-75- S-75 missile mounted on a turretless T55 tank
More S-stuff, yay!!! :D

As far as I checked, they did have T-72's and T-62's, which means we will probably see a T-72M1 as a top tank (maybe T-72S?)
But I do like the concept of motorized-heavy nation. It would probably feel like better Commonwealth motorized, because I did read of BTR-60's with BMP-1 and T-55 turrets strapped on top, Cubans do like their BTR-60's it seems like.
+1, will be my vote if Nation pack #4 is real.

As far as I know is an 100 mm T-55 gun and it is not able to fire on the move or in lateral due to recoil.
