Good afternoon,
As a preface I'd like to say I have over 1000 hours in the Wargame series, 800 of those in RD. I love this game and its unique blend of RTS.
We all know some parts of the community are quite cancerous a-la-nazi style. We also know some parts are quite good, like players on the forums helping the newest Wargame players.
What I'm getting at is that there is the good, the bad, and the ugly in our community (like all communities). I wanted to brainstorm and just know what others think in regards to how can we make our community more new-player friendly to grow the player base, and less storefronty.
Cheers,
War5444

You mean to say some people don't like the vial refuse that is WarChat? I personally enjoy it. Uncensored Anominity brings out the best and worst of people that is often halarious. We don't need to bring the FCC hammer down and install chat police that deprives resources from improving actual gameplay.
Rather the Steam Guides/Community Interface need an overhaul and more independent clan outreach to new players should be done during Wargame Sales/Steam Promotion.

How to make the community more newcomer friendly?
How to improve the overall very toxic community?
- implement Matchmaking
- profit
Also it is funny how 90% the forum community seems to consist of conquest players. So its not very representative.

Make Warchat muted by default. New players' first interaction with the community shouldn't be that.

Agree with auto matchmaking needed. The WORST part of the player experience is to go into a multiplayer game (typically a new player will go to the now available active games AKA mostly 10v10s) and what they encounter is a brutal pubstomp by coordinating TeamSpeak mechanic-trivia-memorizing clan bros that have hundreds of game-hours, meanwhile at least one ever-present un-employed anti-social jerk is eradicating all remaining joy of the game-experience by sh!t talking in lobby chat about "noobs".
Even players that love THE GAME come to hate the experience of playing it with other humans. I've asked myself several times, "why the heck am I still here, putting up with this crap, when it ain't fun anymore?!"
How many of the 'noobs' gained through the latest Steam Sale are still playing Wargame as of today? I suspect globally less than 100 new players remain active in multiplayer. And 75% of them will be gone within the next 2 months. Ask yourself, do we WANT community or not?

To be fair:
Pubstomps happen in any game size up from 2vs2. Often they are even more retarded and boring, because in 10vs10 you can even have fun when you are on the losing side, too. You always have something to do instead of watching some USA dood trolling with his atacms for 40 mins.
Problem is more complex, tho.
Balanced lobbies tend to be dead boring stalemates on most maps due to bad game mechanics.
Plus: Teamspeak is not the problem, good players tack because they are tired of their team beeing incapable of holding flanks, not firing from base and so on... Nobody likes to play with noobs, me neither. They are the same pest as pub stompers are to them.
A matchmaking based on player level would be a start. Levels 1-10 or so (dunno) shouldnt be able to join certain games and the other way round.
Re: On the state of the community
Matchmaking would potentially go a long way, but then again look at MOBAs for an example of the most toxic communities of all time, and they've got matchmaking.
If there's two kinds of players, those that like challenges and those that want a fair game, pubstomps should make everyone happy.

I still don't understand why chat was implemented in the first place.
