Sure, but then should be no more maneuverable than an F-15.

Max speed at altitude: 2200 km/h
Max speed at ground level: 1300 km/h
Cruise speed: 1000 km/h

If MiG-21 doesn't deserve 1000 km/h speed ingame, I don't know what does.

Su-7/17/22, all deserves...
...as well as F-5 and F-104...

Yep, there's quite a few of unjustifiably slow planes ingame.
The SEAD never bothered me anyway.

Their are a fair few planes with unjustifiably bad turning circles in game too, looking at you jaguar and hornet.
I hope your buratino's die screaming.

J-7 and J-17 are 1000kph too, they're both upgraded mig 21s.
Maybe all ASF and interceptors should have 1000kph and all bombers 900kph?

What if I told you that Hornets out-turn nearly all ASFs in-game?

Don't tell the Tankies that.
My mouth is moving, but nothing relevant is coming out. Also I cannot guarantee that my research is perfect or even remotely accurate.

I have low quality Wargame Red Dragon casts on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/XanderTuron

Just set missile weapons off and do some in-game tests in 1v1.

So, covering an old response.
FrangibleCover wrote:There weren't more names? Weird, I assumed that there would be a million Pave Slab/KAWEST/CSP/AUP/Modernisee style designations you could choose from. I guess the Su-24 had to choose between the Upgrade Name queue and the Bread queue that day

The Su-24 continued active development while in production, and thus it had "blocks" that were a fair bit different from each other. From the initial production runs—called "Fencer-A" by NATO—to the last ones prior to the Su-24M versions—called "Fencer-C" by NATO—there were the following improvements.

  • Modified variable inlets, later changed to fixed inlets (guess they decided the variable ones weren't worth it)
  • A reprofiled, less boxy, more aerodynamic rear fuselage, with the brake chute moved to the fairing at the base of the tailfin; a taller tailfin to accommodate new antennas, with the cooling inlet in the base; three-section flaps; and a bullet fairing near the top of the tailfin.
  • A wing with a different airfoil cross section, thinner and more aerodynamic
  • Cockpit electromagnetic shielding to keep the crew from being cooked by the aircraft's own radar.
  • A slightly different nose probe assembly, part of adding Beryoza RWR, updated IFF
  • A completely different undernose assembly for the Chaika targeting and countermeasures systems.
  • A second centerline pylon
  • 1000L extra internal fuel capacity
  • Three-section flaps instead of two-section.
  • A thousand liters less internal fuel capacity.

Very interesting. I should think that at least the addition of Beryoza and Chaika could allow for an additional name; perhaps the "Su-24 Beryoza" and/or "Su-24 Chaika" (although that carries it's own BMPT style misidentification problems). Are there any Su-24 specific loadouts we're missing out on?

Cockpit electromagnetic shielding to keep the crew from being cooked by the aircraft's own radar.

Uh.

How long did it take them to fit that after intro to service? That seems like the sort of thing that should have been considered at the detailed design phase.
