Commonwealth Finetuning thread

Postby captaincarnage » Wed 7 Dec 2016 23:33

Overall Commonwealth non spec is weaker than it was before the last patch, commonwealth mech got the Chimera in a useable form which is nice and the Tornado F3 is usable again.

Problems which remain are:
A load of bugs, air based anti tank capability which is either slow or unreliable, or both, a recon tab which is bad, to terrible in combat terms and a helicopter tab which is authentically crap. Commonwealth is now a couple of nerfs away from being less useful than a UK national deck, again, the remaining elements of the deck which are genuinely worth taking from Canada or Anzac is heavily decreased now. Manpads remain in CATB, despite Starburst being in service within time frame.

Bug fixes/Inconsistencies/problems which are important.

Harrier GR7
Spoiler : :
Its useless and overpriced in its current state, it needs all 4 bombs to hit to kill a 3 tav tank which with 50% accuracy happens less than 50% of the time it is used. The small size of its bombs also means its useless against infantry it either needs a price buff, loadout change or an accuracy increase to be remotely worth a deck slot.

SPAAGS
Spoiler : :
Erich Honecker wrote:In current SPAAG balance, Marksman and Falkon looks like garbage. All of them need good price buff and bigger ammo. And they have twice bigger ROF in the real life.

Challenger 1mk2 should be in mechanized
Spoiler : :
It is the only 120 point tank not available in mechanized where other tanks in the same line are.

Diggers 90
Spoiler : :
were pretty useless before the last patch, now they're even worse, if Jagers ever go down to 10 points so too should diggers 90 who have an inferior At weapon.

M113 30/50
Spoiler : :
Gives an availability hit to Diggers and diggers 90 by 1 increment, it shouldn't, this problem has been reported multiple times and has been around i think since the game first came out of Beta

SASR
Spoiler : :
are once again easily the worst 35 point elite squad now, no reason whatsoever to take them in a deck now their Carbine is an SMG, they could go down to 30 points and still be worse than a lot of 30 point elite squads.
RedFive wrote:SASR should really get the F88 carbine and Minimi that Diggers '90 and Commandos '90 get, their intro date is later and this would make them decent at 35pts. The AUG 9mm Para wasn't used by Australia, only Austria.

Highlanders and Highlanders 90 pricing
Spoiler : :
They're priced as if they're shock troops but they only get regular training, either give them shock training or a 5 point price buff and they would be usable.

Armored Deck lack a very good optics vehicle based recon option
Spoiler : :
Maybe add the Coyote or clone the transport version of the spartan so it can be taken as a vg optics recon

Pathfinders mg bug
Spoiler : :
Has same accuracy as the shock variant (40%) it should be 50% in line with other elite SAW's with 770m range

Trivial Bug fixes/medium priority stuff
Green Jackets
Spoiler : :
Are pretty shit when compared with any shock recon squad with a 16ap+ launcher.

M113 minigun
Spoiler : :
is overpriced compared with all other 10 pt transports and the israeli Zelda which is 5 points.

Lynx AH1 and Anzac S70
Spoiler : :
Is 5 points more expensive than the Finnish Super puma which is more or less a stat clone of it, albeit the Finnish one has a better mg and is medium as opposed to small sized.

Nice to have balance suggestions
Wolverine
Spoiler : :
Give the Wolverine the Starburst missile. The Wolverine project was cancelled due to the Javelin being retired, in addition to its usefulness IRL being pretty dubious due to it only being able to mount a single launch tube instead of the triple-barrel Javelin LML variant that the ingame version uses.

Since we're already in fantasy territory in this regard, the Wolverine likely would have used the Starburst instead of the Javelin had it actually been put into action when the former replaced the latter while the vehicle was being developed. Changing the Javelin LML to the Starburst ingame would make Commonwealth's only wheeled AA option actually useful, and would be a great boon to motorized decks.

Xenos List of Air tab proposals
Spoiler : :
http://forums.eugensystems.com/viewtopic.php?f=155&t=58786

Gazelle Sneb recon
Spoiler : :
Re-roll as 30 points good optics chopper, in its current state its useless as the 65 point version fulfills the exceptional optics role far more cost effectively.

Bell variant recon choppers
Spoiler : :
At 50 points they're a bit overpriced, suggest buff to 45, effects multiple coalitions

Marine spec
Spoiler : :
Add amphibious Canadian units and the CF Hornets to the marine deck. Canada does general amphibious training for its troops and had emergency plans to hitch a ride with the US across the Atlantic in event of war in Europe. This is actually mainly for the coalition with the USMC than anything else, but still.

So unlikely to happen you probably shouldn't even read this
Spoiler : :
Add Leopard C2 MEXAS IWS to give a mobile medium tank with some teeth. The low-level Challengers have pretty poor AP, and the Chieftains are obviously hella slow.

Feel free to post suggestions :)

CMW is in a pretty good spot right now, but things like the LOL-80s are kind of ridiculous on 15 pt line infantry. Why this is the case is not clear to me, considering juts how powerful that launcher is. It's out of line with other 90s line infantry and the unit probably should receive the CG M2 instead.

Or if it is to remain, we should be providing APILAS and Striljen to French, Finnish and Yugo line infantry etc.

Oooh yeah I don't know how I like the Chally 2 being 3 per card if other Superheavies aren't going to get that treatment.

It certainly makes CMW and UK much stronger, but it seems artificial and again, out of line with the other nations and coalitions.

Give ANZAC that stupid M1A1 with modern ammunition Strv 121 style if you have to, that M113 Milan they got was an insult more than anything else, rerolling it might atone for that

Not how that works, at all.

There is no good reason for the Chally 2 to be 3 per card. Not to mention that the Chally 1 line is completely fine, the Mk.1 being top tier and the Mk.3 very good as well.

As long as the unit compensates by having worse anti infantry ability, speed, or transports it is fine.

Infantry with lighter and therefore worse weapons should move faster, if they can not be balanced in any other way. (For instance, French line infantry and Jagers.)

Some ideas (not necessarily all of them should be implemented at once, obviously):

SASR should have the Minimi. Their intro date is later than either Diggers '90 or Commandos '90, and an airmobile unit is way more likely to carry the lighter MG.

SAS should get the LAW80 (adjust intro date if required). Compared to the similar Finnish recon unit or Lstrs they are pretty mediocre.

TH-495 should go back to 15pts, it's not OP like it was before the IFV armor rebalance and Canadian Rifles '85's 16AP is less useful for the same reason.

Another card of wheeled transports for ANZAC, ASLAV-PCs or (dreaming here) Vickers Mk.11 transports.

Challenger 2 to two per card. As all superheavies should be.

British Tornado with ALARM missiles.

Move the Chimera from Canada to ANZAC. It is just as historically accurate having it there and would make ANZAC less shit-tier tank-wise without affecting CMW.

Give the Rarden 5% stabilizer. There are other units that can fire on the move in game without having a computerized stabilizer IRL, and the Rarden needs all the help it can get.
