Nah, only nation with somewhat widely issued rifle proof armor would be USSR with their 6b2 and 6b3 titanium plate vests.

PASGT was basically just kevlar and was only shrapnel and maybe pistol resistant on a good day.

Ranger armor, which had rifleproof ceramic inserts was produced in the 80s and could've been mass produced by the early 90s. But yeah, rifle caliber proof body armor only became widespread in the late 90s/early 2000s, which is past the time frame of the game.

I can get behind this.

that would be really neat.

This would be nice except when they are in buildings. Which way would they be facing when they are in buildings ? Would they be automatically flanked by a squad on the other side of a crossroad because the building has no wall facing that direction ? If WG4 uses a specific infantry armor system, the urban mechanic needs an update as well.

Yugoslavia widely used a few anti-rifle vests, rather massively.

Borovo Tip 3 and Tip 4P - as modeled on the Proleteri 90. Level of protection - IIIA on 3, IV on 4. Has a down-filled antitrauma layer.

Point Blank M16 - as modeled on Padobranci 90. Level of protection - IV.

I personally wouldn't mind the ingame HP value being more variable per unit class, or differing depending on unit type.

For instance the Merkava line has overmodeled armor when really it should have extra HP; infantry transport HP standardization is dumb, and something like the Humvee should have 0 armor and 5 HP.

Applying this concept to infantry, HP should be a rough approximation of IRL squad size/manpower, morale, and body armor. It would make sense for numerous and zealous squads from North Korea or China, or highly trained and well equipped squads from the USA or United Kingdom, to have higher HP values.

A lot more things would need to lose standardized HP values

Helos not having 10 HP
Planes not being always 10 HP but should be less on many models

I don't know alot about planes but single engine planes should have 8 HP imo.

My point is that a comparably tiny L-39 Albatros and a much bigger MiG-31 having the same HP just looks farfetched ...
Plenty of other examples ingame
