Maybe because mudfight is the small example of what the community wants. The main area of mudfight is exactly like what I described above.

Imagine giant undulating fields of grain with the occasional farm, road or patch of trees to simulate the Midwest or Russian/Ukrainian steppe.

Or better yet, 73 easting. No cover, no roads, just flat featureless desert.

That or a snowy variant of highway to hell, call it "Highway to Anchorage".

Actually what I want to see is a giant city map with some slightly suburban outskirts where you could fit a FOB, something like Paris etc that is Infantry centric yet so vast that you can't tie it down with SF. Any AFV other than cheap tanks, IFVs and FSVs would be useless and it would be a massive conflagration of 10v10 urban combat.
Projectnordic in game! will likely see you on pact/red dragons/french!

That would be fun, REDFOR would burn down the whole city for 60min. 2FOB and every flamearty you can get. This would end in a Verdun scenario.

It's surprising to think how much the current meta could be shaken up simply by changing the maps. A map that's reliant on wide open areas would force a focus on armour but you wouldn't have enough superheavies to put one everywhere so cheaper tanks would have to do. We already have a couple of maps that are very forest-centric so a map that's entirely town-centric (perhaps with parkland) would advantage and disadvantage different coalitions. Eugen say they tried the snow maps for ALB and they looked really boring and white so they tossed them, which is fair enough IMO. I do sort of wonder if a map set on the snowline where only the highest half of the map is snowy would work.

I think if Eugen are going to continue to make new maps for the series they should make 10v10 maps with a view to creating cut-out sections for the standard game sizes, giving us more map per map. And probably with a view to creating rotated variants to double the number of maps again.
What if Wargame stuck to timeframe?

Try playing 10v10 on the green mile, it has some towns but theres a lot of space to maneuver in the flanks.

Yeah GreenMile is a good map for 10v10 but for some reasons people prefer MudFight with low income, don't know why. Mudfight is only good if you have a team, otherwise it is quite boring waiting for 25 points to buy a cheap recon and get it killed by a big tank next minute.

I think a good map should have some kind of a village, small urban town or so. All the historical battles happened to be center around a town or city, like Waterloo, Leipzig, or for tank battles El Alamein, Kursk.... Even a small oasis like Bir Hakeim is the center of a fight.

Actually, that's quite a cool idea. Rather than Eugen having to do the thinking about what sorts of terrain give great battles, just copy the terrain from battles that were great and knit it all into a 10v10 map!
Remember, an ATGM unit in La Haye Sainte can hit reinforcing units on the road outside the Alamo so it's usually a good idea to either capture Hougoumont in your opening moves or use the Bloody Lane to Sharpsburg because it's sunken and units can't fire into it.

I was hoping Dual Fields/Open Field from EE would make in to the map voting. A shame Coppenhaggen beat, although the devs never got around to adding that map.
