Mig 29/Su 27 speed

Postby Majstor44 » Wed 4 Jan 2017 20:02

Hi all, i am new to the forum but not to the game. I am wondering why Mig 29/Su 27 have 900 km/h speed while the likes of F-16 or Mirage 2000 which are slower IRL all have 1000 km/h. I know the difference isnt much but it would be realistic and helpfull for the Redfor nations and of course prices should be adjusted acordingly if needed. Would this be viable and if its not, why not?

Well for the Case of MiG29 I'd say lower speed too preserve fuel,
the Su27 I have no Idea maybe too much drag on the frame? Pretty sure there are some Su27 that where given 1000km/h like other twin engine planes which could help propel the aircraft at least 50% more force like the F15. F16 are maybe a little too generous as most nato nations are using them even as bombers.

IIRC the heavy payload causing drag?

Edit :Then again,maybe just me having a fuzzy memory

F-16 or F/A-18 heavy payloads do not cause drag then??

No real reason really.

Both those two should be 1000 KPH.

According to Xeno, aircraft payloads don't affect turn rate or speed in eugenland at the moment.

And Finland gets a 1000 km/h Mig 29 albeit with only two R-77s. And i dont recall Finland ever using Mig-29s irl. Hopefully it is posible to rise them all to 1000 km/h standard.

I am actually not sure if Eugene takes Top-Speed into account at all. On the other Hand you never engange, at least at the dimensions we deal in WG in super sonic velocities, because in super sonic you are not able to go into dogfight at all as your plane wont be able to turn around.

So if you compare a F-16 against an SU-27 you will never get the same turn radius at the same speed. As loadout is not taken into account they might only take the weight of the plane into account to determine speed and turn radius. Therefore if you would bump up SU-27s/MIG-29s to 1000, their turn radius might have to go up by 100 what would end in a way worse AA behaviour, because the plane that turns first will fire off first again. I think the reason why the PU has 1000 and 300 is because of vector thrusting, but idk why the SU-27M has 1000/300.

This was the reason given for MiG-29M, which makes sense because bombs are heavy.

The rest? Probably lulz and nobody complained enough.

Most of the time the formula is:
Speed = round("Sea level Top Speed" - 400kph)
But there are a lot of inconsistencies in the database, MiG-29 being one of them
