how is that different from now?

You loose very many infantry fights, because your line infantry is overpriced and comes in only very basic fire support transports.

The trick then obviously lies in not using overpriced line infantry ;), use the ones which are adequately priced for starters, then make use of the fact that you got decent wheeled transports for 10 pts whereas most of PACT has to pay +5 pts premium to get somewhere fast.

Marder line has one of the best hit roll timings out of all AC vehicles for 15 pts, and the (somewhat overpriced) marder 2 wins against everything that's not a tank. You don't need anything beyond basic, if basic already fulfills all your requirements.

Literally the only country in the game capable of matching deckungsgruppe on marders is CSSR with their Vydra II.

Saying a country is horrible because some particular unit, which isn't even core but you have alternatives available, is overpriced is quite silly.

Cheap (read: 15pts) IFVs are not nearly as powerful when they come with 20+ pts rifle infantry.

I haven't seen anyone complaining about the Marder 1 + Panzergrenadiere ('90) being too strong, even though it is the best 15pts transport.

However, in an earlier stage of the Faustmann Mod, when we had 10pts Panzergrenadiere (line, 15AP launcher) with the 15pt Marder 1, they became incredibly oppressive.

The cheaper IFVs are only really powerful when coupled with cheap infantry. The BMP-1 would not have been as strong if it was available for e.g. VDV.

Fun Fact: FRG didn't have the Marder 2 when the game released.

Props for finding the gif, but it is something that should've been included. It was one of the project cancelled because of reunifications and by extension, the end of the Cold War.

It was cancelled but it is in the game. However, other units like Eurofighter or PzH 2000 were only delayed and are not in the game...

Case for the Eurofighter is even better, ingame - not for Germany though.

Like I said, it wasn't originally in the game. The DLC added the Patriot, Marder 2, Warrior '90 Milan, French heavy mortar, M1992 AAA, etc. to the game.

I agree the Eurofighter and PzH 2000 should've been in game.
