at first, sorry for reposting this in the main area but I need a bit more attention to make this happen, there arent too much people looking into the mod section and this is very interesting for a lot of "non modders" since it works in vanilla online play.

Its a bit buggy still, but I know where the problems are, should be fixed quite fast. Its working in Multiplayer - no desyncs or crashes at all.
You can already access that feature in the mod tools (Texture import/export) via the github repository, but that would require you to compile it by your own.
Unfortunately, Eugen is using an sRGB PixelFormat for their DXT5 compression. That means that the GIMP/Paint.NET editors/plugins wont be able to handle it properly (Only display the alpha channel). Adobe Photoshop with the NVIDIA DDS plugin is able to handle them perfectly though. I think about contributing to the GIMP dds plugin, since its open source to make this work in the future, or I will work on a PixelFormat conversion in my mod tools, I don't know yet.

I'm also looking for some dedicated beta testers, who have access to Adobe Photoshop and are interested in changing some textures! I don't own PS for my own (have too see If I can get a edu version since I'm a student now or somehting..). So to make this 100% work I really need your guys help at the moment!
But I can confirm to 100% that texture handling will be included in the next public version and that it will work in vanilla online play!
