[Linux] Game Crash Issue

Postby hoorigan » Wed 26 Apr 2017 08:29

Since updating to amdgpu-pro driver version 17.10-X (currently trying with 17.10-410326) WG:RD crashes before it even gets through the sizzle videos on launch. No messages are displayed, no processes hang. The game simply crashes silently and exits. So far, I've tried resetting my Option.ini to its default state (more specifically, renaming ~/.config/EugenSystems) as well as restarting the game and verifying the game cache.

I just wanted to follow up and say that this issue has persisted across multiple AMDGPU-PRO updates. I've also tried in other Linux distributions and have had similar results.

I just got the game to work on Slackware Current (didn't work on 14.2) with kernel 4.12, AMDGPU driver, and mesa 17.x. Had to install libtxc_dxtn-1.0.1, but after that, it was good to go. Finally getting to play WG:RD again after 3 months.

Not sure what the issue was, but I'm left to assume it had to do with instability in the versions of varying libraries and/or drivers.
