Actually, I had been thinking that it would be very cool if the modding community all worked together to create a huge Gulf War mod taking ideas from many mods and making it more realistic. This would have to be a group project because it takes so pieces from so many mods.
Countries are:
US Army and Air Force
US Navy and Marines
Great Britain
Saudi Arabia
UN (Includes France)

Features:
Desert maps only (Map unlocker)
Many unit textures (Polish Markingz Mod, Londonsmee Texures, REDDQ's Little Texture Factory)
Changed Unit cards (With Destiny)
Better general balance (Wargame: 1984)
Arty shell speed modded (
Recon Planes (Project: Maple Resolve)
Correct Soviet names (Soviet Equipment naming mod)
Deck and general unit change (British SEAD Mod)

It would be such a cool mod except reality disagrees. Chances of this mod even getting far in development is too little to even start.
One can dream though...

I'd be happy to help out.

As far as armor values for the newest Abrams and T-80 how high did you need to go? If you're willing to finagle in some special damage rules I think it'd be reasonably easy to extend armor out to 40 or so.

Oooooh, the same request has kicked off on the Authentic Deck community! RaduM has stepped forwards to help us make it apperently. Currently working on what needs to go into it, if you have ideas or just want to see:
viewtopic.php?f=155&t=42264&start=30

The objective is to combine the knowledge and imagination of the players from the original authentic deck project with the creativity and ingenuity of the dudes that modded the unmoddable to create a mixture between the two. A mod that makes units available in battalions, so that decks are actually brigades then add the Authentic Deck project so that we make realistic brigades, and can get people meeting to have battles with these decks (Preferably using the whole idea of objective based battles.) with as little over management as possible.

As I said RaduM has already agreed to help, but with 1450 units in the game I am sure even he could do with some help xD Also we need people with knowledge of TO&Es to come up with how many of what in a battalion for each nation to make it as realistic as possible.

This is a wild and wackey dream, almost on the level of W:AB Noobs, but I am gonna try my absolute hardest to get it to work and I really appreciate any help I can get from any member of the community however big or small!

And just because I re-read this and to my cynical mind I know how this looks xD I am not trying to steal your thunder Yuri, the reason I just posted this massive 'advert' in your thread is because I think we can both work together on this. It seems we both pretty much want the same thing and we both have more chance of it working together! :D

I'd be happy to help. This sounds like a grand undertaking worth backing.

So are you shooting for regular deck layouts with realistic unit counts or perhaps more realistic divides where some people handle air, some tanks and IFVs, some support, etc?

I sent you a PM with the details.

So If I see that correctly you only gonna change the avaiability of the units?

For the beta the plan is to change the availability, the number of cards and unlock all card slots for all deck types (Since use of the forum means that we can put up just balanced decks for use.)

Realistic ranges, armour penetration ect would be great too though, but requires more than I wanted to ask of just random modders passing through the thread xD

Anyway, if you wanna work together for true realism then it might help both of us, if not then the community will just end up with two methods of playing slightly different realistic games xD I am satisfied with either to tell the truth, playing relaxed games with the realistic decks method is much harder, and games take longer to set up so *shrug* :P

Well my aim is to create a deck specialisation for every mayor regiment organisaition used during that time that can be done with the units ingame.
Also I want to cut back the use of planes to a level where it doesnt have such a big influence on the game like atm. So no to special air decks.
Special Tank and IFV decks would be for example a Tank regiment or Motorised Rifle Regiment.
A special support deck could be done but as a MRR for example already has 24 122mm guns this is nothing I will invest time in for the first versions.

RaduM and Soundwolf did some excellent realism mods in the past, I'd recommend collabing with them if you really are interested.
NEXT TIME I SEE A DAMN FLAMEWAR INVOLVING DARTH-LAMPSHADE, FROSTPOOKY, LONERIFLE, FADE2GRAY, TROTSKYGRAD AND/OR ANYONE INVOLVED IN A DISCUSSION BETWEEN THEM I'M GOING TO HAND OUT BANS TO ANYONE USING ANYTHING LOOKING REMOTELY LIKE AN AD-HOMINEM
