COMThing's Plane Modding Guide

Postby COMThing » Thu 29 May 2014 06:00

This is a tutorial for those who wish to make their own plane loadout changes, along with some tips and explanations of other useful things when modding planes such as all the needed properties for a smooth turn radius change.
It is meant for those who have at least a bit of experience with unit modding, not people completely new to the toolset

I might update it with extra details once I get back into Wargame (likely once the DLCs are out)

You, sir, should be a Mod-shall.

Very nice resource.

I propose that we add this to the modding guide post started by Shifu, that way we can access it easily and it will remain available and relevant. Well done sir!
Offensive action is essential to overwhelm one's enemy. Defense is a concept of the past.

Updated the tutorial. Additions include creating new weapon references (the example is the FA-18 with 8x AIM-120) and how to change the placement of weapons if another plane of the same type has the wanted placement.

:D .

There are still some things I'd like to add to it, such as adding a few more explanations for the physics module and perhaps a list of compatible hardpoint models (for a start all FA-18A/C hardpoint models are compatible with each other), but at the moment I'm occupied with modding and textures.

EDIT: The Aussie FA-18A is not compatible with any other FA-18 hardpoint models (Wingtips are different), the US FA-18A/C is compatible with all but the Canadian ASF Hornet (no air intake hardpoints, so only useful for 1 weapon)

As a guy who is "completely new to the toolset", I would say this guide is reasonably comprehensible & undoubtedly valuable.
I've learnt a lot from the guide & look forward to the extra hardpoint descriptions.

Much obliged sir!
