I wonder if it's possible to make artillery like sead. Spottable by certain units if gun is on.

If you turn off gun you are hidden. Like if you turn off missiles.

Yeah of course, here you go: http://www.filedropper.com/ndfwin_1

This is the version I play with - bombs, artillery shells, HE & AP gun shells no longer have projectile trails. Autocannons and infantry left untouched.

Note: replaces file in new 440000543 patch folder.

Could you please tell me what files you have edited, I have created my own personal mod and would like to include your changes.

How do the changes affect the AI's ability for counter-battery fire?

The AI has maphack anyway so it would not affect the AI.

I like the idea of making it impossible to always know where the enemy's artillery is. Needing recon to find the enemy artillery would not be the end of the world. And I especially like the idea of not being able to see shots inbound and pre-emptively dodge. That's just wrong.

Where is proof of this maphack? I have yet to see it in the game...I ambush the AI a lot.

The AI can see all units on the map, this helps it to be competitive.
A brilliant plan from the dirtiest euro-hippie: get US players to pay me for a game that I then show them how much their military sucks so I can feel better about being a communist.
