Hi I am working with the modding suite and just practicing with simple value edits
I have done this successfully
and just realized about the annoying shared module thing regarding armour etc so will look into that later.
NOW
Can anyone tell me how i might extend the reach of recon.
or something of that effect
I am looking at : TScanner configuration descriptor
but i see just a huge list of unnamed units just listed in a scroll list.
So firstly once i have actually identified a unit or at least a Shared unit value id like to edit what does the following mean listed in this order:
Detection TBA
Detection HA
Portee vision
optical strength
optical strength alt(something can read it)
portee vision TBA
optical strength alt(something cant read it)
I am presuming that this is how recon works, it has some kind of radius that can be widened?
If i am wrong please let me know it would really help thanks
recon range of sight edit
Re: recon range of sight edit
Yes, Portee Vision is the base vision distance from which the other factors are applied. So if you increase that, it increases the flat LoS distance

Re: recon range of sight edit
ok great .
How ever I still do not know what i am editing?
in the middle section there is a huge list of instances such as 16711
how do i know which unit is attached to instance 16711 before i change its scanning range ?(portee vision)

Either start with the unit you want to mod, then go to modules, TScannerConfiguration, and a bunch or object references. One of them will be TScannerConfigurationDescriptor and show the instance number.
You can also start at the instance number and use the magnifying glass button if you have the Modding Suite 8.2.0
Re: recon range of sight edit
thank you I will carefully try this next
ok So for example I want to extend the line of sight for the Apache :9194
I go to everything.ndf bin
then find 9194 and open .
I now have the Apache folder open (Tunit e Ausol descripter)
next i go to second row down and click on ID 476 (modules)
now from this point i see nothing that indicates where to find what you mentioned?
Am i using the modding suite completely wrong? regards

Everything sounds right. You should be able to find it in modules. Make sure that you know which Apache you are modding, but both should have a module called ScannerConfiguration that you should double-click on. For both units, it is 16 down from the top of the Modules list.
