I was changing things randomly and thought: "Why not move the Harrier II to the Helo tab and make it VTOL?"
And then I changed the Heavy Hog's AppearanceModel and WeaponManager to the Harrier's and this happened:

Spoiler : I know you want to click me :

I still have troubles getting the landing gear to appear though.

Edit: I polished it a little, changed the text and did some random things. If you want to try it, then click here.

I did it back in the first weeks of W:RD, but I stole the idea from captainbiggles who did it for W:AB. Impressive that you got the idea though, not all modders have as much creativity.

It's not implemented because you'd never carry out attacks in this manner. Maneuverability is very limited, it puts a massive constraint on maximum weapons stores, it massively drains fuel, and at least in the Harrier it can only sustain it for a few minutes thanks to heat buildup.

The VTOL capability lets the aircraft land vertically (when most of the fuel has been used and munitions have been expended), take off with a very short runway, or vertically take off with a very limited weapons load (a couple of bombs or rocket pods). The last option really limits operational range, and so was never really practiced; STOVL (Short-Take Off/Vertical Landing) was much more useful.

True.
I had trouble getting the gun to not show "angle too high". I fixed it by allowing the gun to be depressed, which is unlikely to be implemented IRL

Extract the file with a title similar to "NDF_Win.dat", rename the file in Wargame Red Dragon\Data\WARGAME\PC\510012575 to something like "NDF_Win.dat - original" and move the extracted file there. Then run the game normally.
