Faust, Kvasius and I are proud to announce Wargame's competitive balance mod. As it seems that Eugen is starting to tone down development of Wargame: Red Dragon to focus on their other unannounced titles, we feel that Wargame could benefit from something like this
We envision the Faustmann Balance Mod to be, in a sense, a continuation of development for WG:RD in the form of balance patches, to make for a healthier game. We are not looking to reinvent the wheel, all the old things that made Wargame fantastic will be retained, think of FBM to be more of a "Wargame Enhanced" or "Vanilla++" sort of mod. We will largely focus on tweaks and changes that make more factions and units viable and interesting, and mostly avoid touching the mechanics themselves.
What to expect:
- More diverse coalitions
- Lower discrepancy between units
- A focus on game balance
- Around the current level of realism
What NOT to expect:
- A total conversion mod
- Your favorite unicorn unit
- A focus on realism
Here is an idea of how we proceeded with changing the gamebalance:
We attempt to find realistic solutions to problems, but the realism (mostly time frame) can be bent within reason.
The game will be balanced around coalitions, in order to do that, the prototype tag is used as a balance tool. Think of it as "national trait".
Each faction should have its own flavour and playstyle, in order to achieve that we balance with as little standardization as possible, but as much as needed.
Furthermore, this is our roadmap of coalitions to revisit and/or rebalance:

Minor Coalition Reworks:
- Soviet Union
- Eastern Bloc
- Baltic Front
We will regularely update this post with developer diaries, screenshots, changelists and more.
This mod will also be the basis for the next Faustmann Tournament.
