Hello all
How essential is a cheap tank to a general deck?
I see it from two perspectives.
Cheap tank can bully IFV/APC, and provide fire support vs infantry.
Higher availability allow it to be spread around the map more.
However Tank tab imo should be filled with toughly armoured units as infantry transports and unit in vehicle tab lack armour &/or punch in the main gun. So the deck slot could be seen as wasted as other units fill the role.
Thoughts?
What are key attributes you look for in cheap tanks?
I like the 40pt leopard, 45?pt chieftain and 55pt T-72m. I find things 35pts or below trashy and not worth the cost.
Example i'd prefer 1 wilk than 4x t-34
Off topic, someone who really likes tanks

I always have the cheap tanks in my deck, even so they cost me 1 precious slot but they really paid off. The goals is like you said, using the cheap tanks to 1) cover the map 2) to fight off spam and 3) to ambush high value targets.

Nice kills with cheap units ^
How cheap do you go?
My favourite cheapest tank is 40pt Leopard 1.
What is your prefered focus for something cheap? Like armour, firepower etc?
Would it usually just be better to have your cheap unit from the vehicle tab instead? And use your tank tab for 'good*' tanks (40+)
Example there is quite a lot of nice cannon based tank destroyer/ fire support. Although their armour is very weak even compared to cheap tanks.
Spoiler : lazy list of tracked vehicles for 'fire support' :

On BlueFor I like the M41A1, only for 10 points and can dish out a lot. Yesterday I was under attack by triple stack of redfor players who did spam fest with NorKo infantry and SF , I don't recall the name but they cost 35 pt. My defense line with M41A1 (10pt) and ANZAC Leo1AS1+ (55pt) made those spammers bite the dust
On Redfor I like the T-55A for 25 pt, my best score was 2 T-55 which killed 2 M1A2 in the same game plus some more IFV. What you want is a tank in the range 10-25 points, come in high veterancy, and ideally have high ROF and good MG to fight infantry. Here is the best deal i found: From my experience the Leo 1NO for 25 pt is the best killer for the price. If you use them right, they can function as fire support, meatshield, or cheap Rapid Reaction Force .

That is impressive!
Any thoughts any unit changes?
Going to guess swap Twardy for T-55A?
Swap cheap wilk for T-72M1M ( I like atgm)
Might Swap t-72s for 120 pt wilk do i get 6 in a card?
Also what should the '1' slot in vehicle be?
I like Pram as it can hurl 5he at 2450m!
Flame tank is cool, but more situational.
Maybe use ASU-85 for cheap spammy fire suppprt?
Also i <3 my recon Snezka

It depends on your play style, I play armored deck most of the time and i play solo, not in team. Therefore my deck should be able to handle all scenarios. If you play 10v10, you need more tanks, meaning take more T-55A or something in 50-60 pt range, like the East German T-55AM2PB for 55 points. It has ATGM and important, a range of 2275 m. The polish T55AM2 Merida are nice, too.
For vehicle, you should have flame tank TO-55 and if you can, go for cheap AA units like ZSU-57-2 which can work as close ground fire support, very effective against all kind of spam. They scare away enemy helis, even so they don't hit anything but the pilots pull heli back when they hear the sound of AA Flak canon. Pram-S I don't use it, kind of too expensive for my taste.

If u wondering my playstyle, general deck emphasis on recon. Prefer using units carefully than grinding it out. I like the SVIR ATGM tanks
Btw the E-Ger (& CZ ) T-55AM2 [55pt] is much worse that the Dyna at 65pts i think; 3 diff in front armour, atgm range is longer more accurate and AP value is 4 higher. Cannon is the same ( 2100m range).
65pt is a bit too expense for intended role, and don't want to waste ATGMs vs cheap transports.
I like the Merida, 60% acc & 2225m range for 50pts, perfect for vs IFV & APCs imo.
Its now replaced Twardy. I still have Moderna, SVIR ATGM tanks & decent airforce so Armoured decks arent as annoying. Previously I played NSWP motorised & E-Ger for bit, and armoured decks where a thorn in my side.
Flame Tank has now replaced Pram-S.
(Although i will miss the highlight of 1 shotting a Maglan at 2450m trying to sneak).
I consider the AP cannon a bonus as it is so inaccurate beyond 1km. The Napalm is just awesome when a spam push appears.
In my CMW deck, challenger 1 (120pt) has been swapped with the 55pt ANZAC Leopard 1.
Re: Cheap tanks and cost efffectiveness (build more tanks?)
For the Maglan recon team, I just nuke them with mortars + a round of Ondava to make sure those guys are toast

Re: Cheap tanks and cost efffectiveness (build more tanks?)
Hmm your "cheap" is my mid-tier, or C tier
There are two scenarios:
1) Solo to protect deep chokepoint / CV
2) As filler with a larger force, probably other tanks too
So
1) Focuses on firepower (accuracy, AP), you want to hit the first shot
2) Armor is more important, AP/Acc is not much to write home about, basically is there to soak shots
Would prolly go more expensive for 1) than 2), say 50 vs 30 pts. My new favourite and #1 tank for the deck is a four-stack of Leo AS1+, but then again I use it to fight off Sovjet+OPente CPU spam and to quickly clean out any remains.
120pt tanks seem to consistently underperform in WarGame. Would probably swap to a 50pt tank. Best always depends on what your opponent is rolling.
