R.I.P. AOA

Postby gRuNgIE » Mon 7 Oct 2019 04:08

Well damn...

I believe the day has finally come. We are holding on to the game with about 12 loyal players. Generally good games and non-toxic people trying to hold it together.

The good ole days with 300+ players and games filling up quickly has come to an end. What a shame... this game was so much fun, and I can't seem to find a RTS game good enough to replace it. The game is just too damn fun. We just need some simple patches and for AOA to go on a firesale in the steam store to regain traction.

Here's to hoping they give this game one more chance.

This game is already dead since over a year. Everytime i jumped into a lobby i saw the same people playin Guardian Rift over and over again. That is so boring, that even player like me, who like(d) that game went away.

What i want to say is, that it is not only Eugen´s fault, that the game died. It is also up to the players.

For example, I also tried to organize a team evening over Hackbart, so that "the old" players who like that game come togehter once a month or so an play some matches. All that failed.

So you are absolutely right, it is time to say goodbye!

By the way, Eugen sux in developing a wargame follower (#steel division), but instead of developing AoA 2 they produce more and more DLC´s for SD, what is already dying.

Long time no talk, Walker. There are still some decent players who like to switch it up, however, you are correct that much of the games are on guardian rift with an ACCE spam. Once it fails they surrender. If you'd like to play a match add me on steam.

I went back to command and conquer zero hour, so I'm back into my addiction, but I love to go online and play instantly :D
Nevertheless, AoA was best/ 2nd best fun to me and I want it back too.

Idea  :
when this game becomes really cheap, then it could be added to cnc-online somehow. I will make that suggestion there :)
(I think a requirement would be mod-ability)

At all, if it fails, you have to regard yourself as the elite. Other players just can't handle that type of games on the top level of the last remaining players. So these guys have to be alone :) :( :)

@Tactic: nice to see you! I don't think that Aoa is moddable in that kind and i am sure that all time, that you bring into that game will be wasted.
@Grungie: Thanks for your invitation. But for now, I will not longer hopp into that game. It just makes me frustrated

Me, I will buy and play Warcraft 3: Reforged (1st time ever) and on 2020.09.1 I will switch to Iron Harvest. Maybe i will see some AoA dudes in one of that RTS games :)

Have a great time bois!

It is a massive business opportunity Eugen System is missing here: If they would develop the game with higher standards and market it accordingly, they could pretty much get the whole Command & Conquer Generals community in on it. That community is still massive, just look at how many views C&C videos still get on YouTube. It is also no accident that EA is resurrecting the franchise, they know what opportunity this presents. A void can be filled there, if Eugen Systems so chooses. It does not take much.

There are still people around who care. Get them involved. Talk to us!

I agree with you in all points about the game.
Concerning the community i ask you one question: "Why does C&C or WC3 still have such a massive community?" even after the official servers were shut down, the players remained loyal to the game they loved and saved the multiplayer sector.

Where are the AoA players? Where is Araton, Szalami,Netput, ZxGanon and all the other glory players? AoA would be better off if such players would still be there. The glory players of C&C are still in it.

Think about it, i am sure we all ride a dead horse here. :? :?
