Probably my biggest disappointment is the cartoon look of units as compared to WRD.
I think this will prove to be a very enjoyable game (especially when the zoom is improved) but the graphics/unit style mean that it's not going to scratch that itch quite as well as it could.

My first RTS was CnC Red Alert 2 and I loved it, but gaming has evolved since then.
Back then I could not imagine the improvements that AoA is abandoning right now.
Duke Nukem Forever was actually not that different from Duke Nukem 3D as well, but it just doesn't work anymore, because today people expect more.

I agree! AirLand is much better in the graphics/realism department.
