skypatrol wrote:So whats up with the choice to only have 1 marine spawn after you build that unit it seems a bit like a starcraft copy to me. Im use to wargame where you can command companies and your trying to satisfy me with 10 guys hell no. Starcraft seems to small scale I like being able to command those companies of soldiers not just 10 guys.

Starcraft didn't create the 1 man per build RTS rule.
As for the single infantry someone will always complain about the infantry whether its the clown caring, single infantry micro, unrealistic squads only carrying rifles or rockets..

Odysseus20 wrote:yeah i am really annoyed by this as well, to be honest this is just game breaking for me.
can't stand 1 soldier at a time, really wish the wargame system can be in here as well

How is it game breaking.. if you're about to say immersion I'm going to laugh.
Also people complained about the wargame infantry also.

keebs63 wrote:C&C and CoH both have squads that allow you to have control over platoons. This is just a joke at this point.

C&C Before C&C 3 and C&C 4 all had single infantry..

QShadow wrote:Okay, it was a design choice and Eugen went for the 1 soldier model because it went better with theire game mechanics regarding anything from how arty works, to how snipers and other units react to infantry and how transport vehicles interact with them.

Suggestions and criticism is always usefull, but there is a difference between suggesting something because it would enhance the gameplay or game feel somehow or suggesting something "because game x did so".

QShadow wrote:Even though I had no problem with the FOV in Act of Aggression I can see that others might have, then again even though many screenshots were presented with games usually having a higher zoomlevel then AoA, games like CoH feel like your camera is even more close to the action. There was this one RTS from SEGA which had a really close to ground zoom, what was it called again.... something Earth? UNIVERSE AT WAR, that was it! It had a camera so narrow you would think you are wathching the game through I micorscope.

Dunno, I didn't play Universe at War. I did play CoH though. It is true, camera was very close there. But besides low zoom CoH also had infantry squads and max cap ie. you were always fighting with a handful of soldiers what made control way easier :3 Not to mention very simplistic economy. The same thing can be said about Dawn of War 8-)

It is ok to say X game had it but without proper justification there is no argument.

Okay thats true. In CoH you fight with quantities which are a fragment of what AoA delviers in mid-lategame.
Simplistic economy is a different thing altogether. While I agree that in those 2 games which share many similarities, due to being developed by the same team, and have a more simple ressorce system it is notebale that the ability to cripple the enemys supply without destroying or capping the ressource spot itslef makes AoA so intresting in that regard.
I alredy loved that mecanic back in RUSE or even AoW.

Amen! in act of war it was 1 guy at a time also! And it worked fine.

But it would be absolutely no problem to use multiple of 2 for infantry squads as transport (at least US transports) have either 4, 8 or 12 places.. so the transportation system which is based around one soldier would still work ;)

2 men would work perfectly for any specialist teams, like AT (Javelin), AA (Stinger) or sniper.
4 men would work perfectly for stadart Infantry like Marines or Delta

Of course, due to health, attack damage and price, the balance between the single units would be left untouched
