The zoom and tilt should be as advertised in the videos.

Act of Markers probably beats Act of Indistinguishable Specks. In either case we can't really appreciate your pretty graphics because we're too far away to see them, but at least in one case you've got a more playable game to show for it.

Could always make infantry a bit bigger and with more and more highly contrasting colors, however. There's definitely room for play there before giving up and giving everything an icon. 120% scaling and a reskin could do a lot.

Possibly combine the two- increase infantry readability, but then at the far-out zoom levels (satellite zoom, presently) also add icons.

So we reworked and tweaked the engine to allow a zoom without impacting the performances at all.

The result is a 30-40% smooth zoom out, which is pretty much what the community is asking, and as much as the community zoom mod!

By the way, you’ll also have the possibility to block the Satellite View access using the mouse wheel, in the options menu.

The patch including the zoom is, as usual, imminent™ :)

Impressed :D

I'm assuming that means "stop the mouse wheel from taking you in to satellite view," rather than actually making the satellite filter something you can toggle on and off.

If I'm wrong, yay.

If not, well, I guess that's an improvement given the nasty "my mouse wheel is broken" feel of switching between normal and satellite modes at present, but satellite view in general is at present pretty ill-conceived and poorly implemented.

And you just don't fucking grasp it.

As long as sat mode gives a far better zoom it's the what's gonna be used by the vast majority of competitive players as it is objectively better.

Talk all you want about what zoom we should have, that's completely irrelevant.

Explain the sat view hate, especially now that the zoom level is being extended outside of it? Personally I like it, it fits the aesthetic of the game nicely, and even gives me a little bit of nostalgia for an entirely different sort of game that had a sat view (Battlezone). Furthermore it is in no way more useful for ground combat than normal zoom even without the increase, that is complete BS, the panning speed in sat view is abysmal and in normal zoom it isn't, the speed more than makes up the difference, so that I rarely find the need to go to sat view even though I'm not a hater and quite like it...

Some more definition of LoS coverage in Sat View would be welcome IMO. But thats not on topic :(

If this update truly does allow us to zoom out as much as the mod, I'd say problem solved on that particular front. Satview is fine for a quick tactical analysis of resources and enemy locations before jumping back into action. Satview is nice, adds a little atmosphere and shouldn't be removed. But do people really want to play THAT far zoomed out all the time?
