I simply think the time limit of 40 minutes is too short, I want it extended to at least 60 minutes.

I think the timer is just about perfect.
Around the 40 minute you'll either have won / lost or be stuck in a really boring grindfest or gridlock.

The only thing I think is not fair or reasonable: There's no indicator for when the game will end.
Knowing when the game will end is a ''driving mechanism" that will generate a response from the player.
From my limited understanding of game design, driving / motivation mechanisms are important.

In other words: A timer would be necessary to fairly facilitate the 40 minute cut off.

Probably so that people know they can queue up for a ranked match and have it take at most 40 minutes instead of, like dota, having to prepare 2 hours just in case you get stuck in one long ass drawn out fuckboy fuckfest that makes you want to stab your own eyeballs with rusty screwdrivers because honestly fuck that game.

It just seems like it could lead to false wins and losses to me, say you've lost a lot of units in a bunch of long drawn out fights, but are about to destroy the enemy base because you've made a comeback, you still lose if the timer decides your score wasn't good enough.
