Finally lower the price to 10 euros / dollars! Here is why:

Postby Predatorrrr » Wed 8 Jun 2016 12:19

This game is dying. In about 3 months there won't be anyone to play it anymore. It really makes me wonder that the game still sells for 45 Euros/Dollars on Steam. We all know that this game is not a full price title, it lacks a proper single player compaign and a bunch of other stuff.

So, in order to keep it alive, why dont you permanently lower the price to 10 euros/dollars and create a new playerbase this way? This may fund further development and you may be able to sell a DLC in the future. 45 euros /dollars is a rip off and generates bad reviews because people compare price to the value and find it unattractive.

For 10 euros/dollars a lot of people will give it a try and this kind of value/price ratio generates some marketing buzz on its own.

Furthermore:
Why don't you support the community? Giving YouTube Channels some kind of push by including it in your mailer or something? This way new players can learn to play this game by watching videos. I would be happy to produce a video series for new players, if it's worth it. It would be worth it if there is any impending marketing push from the publisher or the developers. A major sale could be one of those. If you - the developers or the publisher - want to discuss it, contact me via a private message.

Think about it!

In all fairness, i don't think they are still working on it, and if so, they've put it in the background...

Ever since "release" of the Reboot, these forums, and the Steam Discussion section have fallen all but dead silent. None of the devs made any significant post lately about this game and i'm afraid it's time to let go. I had my fun with it, sure as hell, but with an average of maybe 30-40 players in a day the chance of getting a decent game is nearly 0.

And if there is a game: it's always on the same bloody maps. We're tired of Guardian Rift... We've played these maps since vanilla. These guys had an awesome chance to release modding tools but instead they got stuck in their ivory tower and ignored/deemed it unviable to produce this request. A healthy game supports mapmaking and modding.

Back to SC2 i guess... Even with slightly declining numbers there aswell (getting it's 6y old by now) i don't have to wait atleast to get a game...

Modding tools would do shit, people would still host that crappy Guardian Rift map. The new added maps are much better than GR but GR is still only one being played.

I'm in agreement with this. The only counter to an almost dead game is to give it one more good push. AOA is a good game, and could be great with a fresh database of players, a tutorial and map modding tools. With the influx of income from new players they could invest that money back into the game. Videos and guides from the developers would be a great as well. Seems silly that this is all so blatantly obvious to all of us, but none of this has been done. We, as players of this game, would be willing to market and recruit new players to the game, but we need some backing from the developers.

Help a brother out!

They had the chance was what i was saying... I'm well aware that it's practically too late now, but it goes to say that they missed out on one of many many opportunities...

Why should they sell this game for 10 euros/dollars? Even 8-bit armies cost 14,99€ and you certainly do not want to compare it to AoA. This game has so much more than 8-bit armies, and there you have to pay extra for new developments (like Reboot in this game here)!

Eugen developed Reboot Edition because of you guys here. For free! I was against it. Now Reboot is out and it is quit around these people here.

For me it is not the fault of Eugen, it is your fault here! They should have fixed vanilla version and add some new maps and everything would have been fine!

Why should they squander it now for 10,- EUR/dollars?

Let it die with dignity, you have made your contribution to it! :D :D :D

Well we'd all rather play the old version too, but that's as dead as this forum. We never asked for the reboot, we asked to fix the damn planes and add some more maps.

So yes they made a mistake and should own up too it, and meanwhile maybe earn a buck and bring some life in a game that's otherwise going to die anyway.

The problem with people giving feedback to this game is that they tried to turn AoA into an RTT, I think this was to be expected as most of them come from the Wargame series, a very microintensive RTT, interestingly the way Eugen attempted to reduce the available number of units is by slowing down the early economy to a crawl

Indeed, this may have been extremely counter-productive, most newcomers will find their initial money will not allow them to even settle a decent defense line, let alone a fighting force, and even in the hypothetical scenario a veteran would hold back and avoid any rushing attempt the newbie will have to sit for 7-8 minutes waiting to have enough cash to go tier 2.

Of course, after 3 or 4 games of having no cash and getting rushed they will drop the game.

By the way, and speaking of economy, this game is actually misguiding, you see, you can start with what apparently looks like a lot of cash, 8,000 credits, it's basically the same you got back in the old C&C games, however you will start to notice a few problems, first off, everything costs quite high, just a basic tank will require you to spend more than 1100 credits, back in C&C 800 credits was more than enough to get you a decent tank, and turrets or bunkers costed 500 while AT troopers 200 units, so both defense and attack were available back then while now you have to choose in what to invest. Then there is the problem of the income, you see, refineries are rather cheap, however, with only one oil rig close to your base you are pretty much stuck unless you build an expansion, which in turn means you have to save the precious little income you get, leaving yourself open to early rushes.

Ultimately the game becomes futile, after 8-9 minutes you either have rushed and likely succeed in wiping out your enemy or got crushed while attempting to build an early expansion.

Welcome to Act of Rush, enjoy!

PS: Oh, and of course changing the current model with make the little people who actually enjoy this trash quit, basically killing once and for all the gameplay base, not a great lose really, considering what their feedback brought us to.

We didn't ask for Reboot but we did ask for more than plane fix and some maps. Reboot was a good idea but it didn't go far enough and it lacked proper marketing.
