New Player Mentoring

Postby TheRev » Sat 5 Sep 2015 07:35

Hello Everyone,

As we all know getting into competitive multiplayer of a new game can always be hard. We have decided to put together a list of players who are willing to help out any and all new players who are looking for advice and or training. We want to help players learn the basics and learn how to be competitive in AoA, from players who have been playing the game for a while and know their way around the basics.

So far we have three players who have kindly offered to be mentors, but we will gladly accept anyone who feels they can contribute and help the community grow in experience.
We will be adding a section to the mentor page where you can just register to be a mentor, however until that is added (sometime this evening) you can just pm myself, or Siggerz and we will add you to the mentor list.

Here is where new players can find the list of current mentors:
http://www.as2gaming.com/act-of-aggression-mentor-list/
Public steam group, making it easier to contact mentors, and see who is online.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/AoAMentorPrograme
You will see their location (for time zone) and the languages they speak well enough to train players in. Should you want to contact them a link to their steam profile is provided, just message them and ask when they are available to help out.
Please remember that these guys are doing it voluntarily and do have their own lives, so won't always be available.

Hopefully this will help new players out, and in doing so strengthen the community :)

If anybody needed time zones of availability I'm usually busy during the weekdays until 5:00pm Mountain time / 11:00pm GMT but free on weekends.

This is great. I'll consider this when I make extra time.

How long does the mentoring program usually take?

There is no set time, basically the mentor can offer up any time he or she has available. Like wise the person looking for help is welcome to ask one or two questions, or have several hours of coaching if the mentor is willing.

I've sent in a request.

Not quite sure, how to go from here.
I assume I will be contacted if anybody is interested in helping me?

Hey, yea I will get someone to contact you. I was a bit surprised when I noticed you had 95 hours in game :P.

We now have 7 mentors, so should always be someone available!
Also Added a steam group to make it easier to see which mentors are online:
