Well they are looking at the market, which is mostly US, but also at the game mechanics. Pre 1944 the infantry would have been using gammon bombs and Hawkins mines for anti tank defence, In Normandy all sides have rpg equivalents. Given that the intent appears to be a RD style multi player, they might also have been looking to eliminate horse drawn transport.

They will finally need to fix guns for air to air combat, and what heavy AA looks like will be interesting, as will naval.

Heavy AA probably would be like Otomatic with lower ROF.

Do they cap it at 40 mm or go the whole way to dual purpose 88/90 mm guns. Will air attacks be fighter and dive bombers or will there be four engined bombers as well. I hope they learn from naval in RD and not include stuff like carpet bombing and battleships. Leave that as events in the SP campaign.

Comrade Kim Il Sung campaign

A Mao game would be a possibility, but that would probably work better with something like CoH which is much more infantry focused. Now that you mention it, Korea might also be a good DLC possibility, if they add mechanics for towed equipment.

Lol. In a game initially based in NORMANDY?

The first DLC of Europa Universalis IV was focused on North America.

I'm curious as to how the dynamic frontline system works, and whether it will use real orders of battle or abstracted

Sounds like a Tank/vehicle oriented game.
